Nitrome Reveals Latest Creation: Mouse Work

The creative minds behind Shovel Knight Dig, Nitrome, have unveiled their latest venture: Mouse Work, an engaging party game exclusively on Nintendo’s upcoming Switch 2. This intriguing new title harnesses the innovative Joy-Con 2 mouse controls but hasn’t yet released an official launch date.

Mouse Work is designed for 1 to 4 players, immersing participants in a world where mouse-themed challenges await. The game transports you into the paws of endearing mice, each trying to earn their share of cheese by taking on various job-centered mini-games. Every task showcases a unique and clever mechanic, making full use of the Joy-Con 2’s cutting-edge cursor abilities.

In the role of a Climbing Instructor, players must help their hapless students find the next secure handhold. As an Artist, you race against the clock to complete paintings. From playing keepy-uppy in ‘Gym Teacher’ with different balls, to ‘Spy,’ a nostalgic mouse-avoiding quest, each job offers a different flavor of fun. As players progress, they’ll unlock new tasks and revisit existing ones with unexpected twists.

While Mouse Work can be enjoyed solo, the excitement intensifies when friends join and transform the experience through local 2-4 player couch co-op mode. Multiplayer not only ramps up the difficulty but also introduces new challenges, such as coordinating synchronized movements or working together to lift heavy objects. Some games offer asymmetric abilities, ensuring every player truly shines with distinctive mechanics.

Accomplishing tasks reaps rewards in the form of Cheddar, the game’s currency. This allows players to personalize their mice with adorable cosmetics like hats, bow ties, and sneakers, adding an extra layer of charm. Players can look forward to the game’s release, closely following the debut of the Nintendo Switch 2, promising a fresh wave of fun and excitement for party game enthusiasts.
