Next-Gen MacBook Pros with M4 Pro and M4 Max Chips Begin Mass Production Ahead of October Release

Apple’s upcoming M4-powered MacBook Pro lineup has reportedly entered mass production, with expectations of reaching consumers as early as October this year.

According to recent information from DigiTimes, the high-end MacBook Pros featuring the M4 Pro and M4 Max chips have begun mass production. There are hints that Apple may hold a Mac-focused launch event in October, following their usual schedule for updating the Mac lineup.

The new MacBook Pro series is expected to include base models with the M4 SoC, as well as higher-tier 14-inch and 16-inch versions with the M4 Pro and M4 Max chips. Aside from the upgraded chips and a possible boost in base memory configuration, no other significant changes are anticipated according to prominent tipster Mark Gurman.

Apple initially announced the M4 SoC in May as the successor to the M3, earning strong positive reviews. This 10-core M4 chip debuted with the iPad Pro but has yet to appear in a Mac.

If Gurman’s reported schedule holds true, the M4-series MacBook lineup will be introduced in October, with the MacBook Air slated to follow in the Spring of 2025. For desktop Macs, a refreshed M4 iMac is expected to arrive this year, with the Mac Mini and Mac Pro likely launching in the summer of 2025, around the time of WWDC 25.
