Nvidia has unveiled its latest GeForce Game Ready Driver, version 580.88 WHQL, on July 31, 2025, packed with exciting optimizations for both seasoned and brand-new game titles. This driver is particularly fine-tuned for the much-anticipated release of 2K Games’ Mafia: The Old Country, launching on August 8, 2025.
Both Claire Obscur: Expedition 33 and Mafia: The Old Country will benefit from the impressive DLSS4 technology. This includes features like Multi-Frame Generation, DLSS Super Resolution, and Nvidia Reflex, offering a boost in frame rates while keeping input latency to a minimum for RTX 40 and 50 series users.
Gamers exploring new monitor options will also find this update appealing, with support now extended to 62 new G-Sync compatible displays. Brands such as Acer, AOC, ASUS, Gigabyte, LG, Philips, Samsung, ViewSonic, and MSI are included, promising smooth, tear-free gaming experiences.
In addition to game optimizations, Nvidia has announced an extension of support for Windows 10 users. As Microsoft plans to end support for the operating system on October 14, 2025, Nvidia’s decision to continue Game Ready Driver support for all GeForce RTX GPUs until October 6, 2026, offers a comforting reprieve for those reluctant to upgrade. With Steam reporting that Windows 10 users still make up a significant portion of the gaming market, this decision could be crucial for many.
For older hardware, Nvidia has outlined a roadmap for GPUs like the GTX 1060. Drivers supporting architectures such as Maxwell, Pascal, and Volta will receive their final Game Ready Driver in October 2025. Post this, they’ll continue to get security updates quarterly until October 2028, extending support well beyond typical industry standards. However, with the next CUDA Toolkit update, CUDA support will cease, limiting optimization for compute-heavy tasks.
The 580.88 driver also addresses numerous game-related issues:
– Eliminated ray tracing artifacts in World of Warcraft.
– Resolved performance issues in Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered.
– Fixed crashes in Control and EA Sports FC 25.
– Patched square artifacts around lights in Battlefield 2042.
– Corrected object artifacts in Starcraft: Remastered.
– Addressed micro-stuttering with VSYNC in Cyberpunk 2077.
– Fixed water surface artifacts in JX Online 3.
– Resolved 32-bit game crashes using DXVK.
– Fixed Control crashes when ray tracing is enabled.
– Resolved startup crashes in Dirt 5.
– Patched corruption issues in ABZU’s water.
With these updates, Nvidia continues to enhance the gaming experience, promising smoother visuals and improved performance across a broad spectrum of games and devices. Keep an eye out for these advancements to enjoy optimized gaming performance on your current PC setup.
