New Hack-and-Slash Metroidvania Hits Steam With a Limited-Time Launch Deal

Divinum Launches on Steam: A New Hack-and-Slash Metroidvania With Fast Combat and a Launch Discount

Divinum, the new hack-and-slash metroidvania from Sigil Games, is now available on Steam for Windows and macOS. The game launched on August 29, 2026, after a longer-than-expected development cycle, with earlier release windows having been pushed back from October 2025 and February 2026.

To celebrate its release, Divinum is currently available with a 10% introductory discount. That brings the price down from $14.99 to $13.49 until September 11.

The game places players in the role of Fjør, a young warrior born under the Fate of the Guardian. His mission is to protect a quiet northern island from invading forces, setting the stage for a dark fantasy adventure filled with caves, forests, ruins, catacombs, and underground passages.

At its core, Divinum is built around fluid, skill-based combat. Players can launch enemies into the air, opening up aerial attack options that are unavailable on the ground. While airborne, enemies are unable to fight back or escape, giving players the chance to extend combos and control the pace of battle.

Fjør has access to two primary weapons, each with its own unique move set. Alongside these weapons, players can use special skills, dodges, blocks, and parries to survive increasingly dangerous encounters. The combat system appears designed for players who enjoy timing, movement, and experimentation rather than simple button-mashing.

Progression in Divinum comes through runes, which are earned by exploring the world and defeating bosses. Instead of relying on basic percentage-based stat upgrades, the game focuses on modifiers that change how combat feels and functions. One example is Wrath, a rune that gives attacks a chance to chain lightning to nearby enemies, with a one-second cooldown.

Stronger runes come with more meaningful trade-offs, encouraging players to think carefully about their builds. This gives Divinum an added layer of strategy, as players can shape Fjør’s fighting style around aggressive offense, defensive control, or special effect-based combat.

Early player reception has been strong. Although the game is still very new and has only a limited number of user reviews so far, its current rating sits around the “Very Positive” range, suggesting that early players are responding well to its combat, exploration, and progression systems.

Divinum is also designed to run on a wide range of hardware. The minimum PC requirements are modest, asking for an Intel Core i3-6100 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200, 4 GB of RAM, and either an Nvidia GTX 560 Ti or Intel Iris Xe graphics. The game requires just 1 GB of storage space, making it a lightweight download compared to many modern releases.

The macOS version supports Apple Silicon, and a separate Mac demo is also available. Recommended system requirements have not been listed for either platform.

Divinum is a single-player experience and includes Steam Achievements, Cloud saves, and support for nine languages across interface and subtitles.

For fans of metroidvania games, fast-paced hack-and-slash combat, and atmospheric fantasy adventures, Divinum looks like a promising new release. With its accessible system requirements, launch discount, and early positive reception, it could be worth checking out for players looking for a fresh indie action-platformer with deep combat customization.
