Netflix’s AI Discover Tab Matches Your Next Watch to Your Mood

Netflix is giving viewers a new way to find something to watch with the launch of an experimental feature called AI Discover. The new tab is designed to make browsing Netflix faster, more personal, and better suited to how people actually choose entertainment in the moment.

Instead of endlessly scrolling through rows of movies and shows, users will be able to explore recommendations based on their current mood, viewing situation, interests, or available time. The first feature inside AI Discover focuses on mood-based recommendations, helping viewers narrow down choices with curated themes and short clips from Netflix titles.

For example, users may see categories such as “something light,” “scare me,” “family movie night,” “quick watches,” and other themed options. These prompts are meant to make it easier to find the right movie or series without needing to know exactly what to search for.

The feature reflects Netflix’s broader effort to improve content discovery across its growing library. With so many shows, films, documentaries, stand-up specials, and reality series available, choosing what to watch can sometimes feel overwhelming. AI Discover aims to reduce that friction by offering a more guided and personalized browsing experience.

Netflix says the new tab is powered by an intelligence layer that can respond to user input in real time. The system is designed to learn from what viewers choose, skip, save, or reject, making future recommendations more relevant over time.

After selecting a theme, users will be shown matching recommendations. If the results are not quite right, they can continue refining their search by selecting more specific themes. There is also a “something different” option that lets viewers reset the experience and start fresh with a new set of suggestions.

Each recommended title includes a “Tune Your Recommendations” button alongside familiar options like “Play” and “My List.” This gives users more control over what Netflix suggests in the future. Viewers can save recommendations they like or tell Netflix not to show certain titles again.

Netflix describes AI Discover as a kind of testing space for new discovery tools. The company plans to use viewer feedback to decide which features should be improved, expanded, or eventually added to the main Netflix experience.

The new AI Discover tab is beginning to roll out in the United States for users who watch Netflix in English on supported TVs. Netflix says more users will gain access in the coming weeks.

Those who receive the feature will see a “Discover” button in the top navigation bar on their TV. The button includes a red gem icon and a “New” label, making it easy to spot.

With AI Discover, Netflix is trying to make the process of finding something to watch feel less like searching and more like being guided toward the right choice. Whether someone has only a few minutes, wants a family-friendly movie, or is looking for something spooky, the new feature could make Netflix recommendations feel more timely, useful, and personal.
