Navee Wavefly 5X Electric Flying Boat Opens for Pre-Orders With a $10,000 Reservation
The future of water adventure is starting to look a lot more like flight. The Navee Wavefly 5X, an all-electric flying speedboat, is now officially available for pre-order, giving thrill-seekers, luxury buyers, and high-end resorts a chance to reserve one of the most unusual watercraft to enter the market.
The Wavefly 5X first attracted attention after its official launch in early June, thanks to its ability to skim above the water using low-altitude ground-effect flight. Instead of cutting through waves like a traditional boat, it glides just above the surface, creating a flying sensation without requiring users to hold a pilot’s license.
Reservations are now open with a $10,000 deposit, though the full price places this futuristic machine firmly in the luxury category. The Navee Wavefly 5X is expected to cost around $200,000, making it far from an everyday recreational vehicle. However, for premium adventure resorts, waterfront businesses, and wealthy buyers looking for something truly different, it could be a standout attraction.
What makes the Wavefly 5X especially interesting is that it is fully electric. The craft uses four propellers, with each one capable of producing up to 8,000W of power. That setup allows it to reach a top speed of 53 mph, or about 83 km/h. In practical terms, that puts it in speedboat territory, but with a much smoother and more futuristic riding experience.
Because it travels just above the water’s surface, the Wavefly 5X may offer a more comfortable ride than conventional speedboats, especially in choppier conditions. Instead of constantly slamming into waves, it is designed to glide over them, which could make it appealing for tourist destinations and water sports operators looking to offer a premium experience.
Range is another key part of the package. Navee claims the Wavefly 5X can travel up to 50 miles on a charge or deliver around 70 minutes of flying time. The electric design also supports swappable batteries, allowing operators to extend usage with less downtime between rides.
Despite its aircraft-like appearance and flying capability, Navee says the Wavefly 5X is designed to handle more like a boat than an aircraft. That could make it easier for experienced boat users to adapt, while also lowering the barrier for resorts and commercial operators that want to offer a unique ride without requiring specialized pilot training.
The Navee Wavefly 5X is not built for the average weekend boater, but it represents an exciting glimpse into where electric watercraft technology is heading. With its combination of ground-effect flight, electric propulsion, swappable batteries, and high-speed performance, it could become one of the most eye-catching luxury water toys on the market.
For buyers willing to pay the price, the Wavefly 5X offers something few other vehicles can: the feeling of flying over water in a fully electric craft designed for both speed and spectacle.
