MSI has unveiled a fresh wave of 2026 gaming laptops, and one detail in the announcement is already turning heads: a previously unannounced Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU variant that appears to come with 12GB of GDDR7 memory.
Alongside new models in the Cyborg, Crosshair, Raider, and Titan series, MSI confirmed that its upcoming Crosshair 16 Max HX E2WGXK will be sold exclusively with the “GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU 12GB GDDR7.” That wording strongly suggests Nvidia is preparing a higher-VRAM RTX 5070 laptop option beyond the existing configuration currently seen in many gaming notebooks.
To put this in context, earlier Crosshair 16 Max variants have been offered with RTX 50-series laptop GPUs in more standard memory sizes. MSI’s previous Crosshair 16 Max HX models have included an 8GB version of the GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU, as well as an 8GB RTX 5060 option. The newly mentioned 12GB RTX 5070 configuration stands out as a notable upgrade for gamers and creators who benefit from additional VRAM in modern titles, high-resolution textures, and GPU-accelerated workloads.
MSI also notes that this refreshed Crosshair 16 Max configuration will be paired with Intel’s latest high-end mobile chips, including the Core Ultra 7 251HX and Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus, while also retaining the existing Core Ultra 9 275HX as an option within the broader lineup. These processors are positioned for performance-focused gaming laptops, aiming to deliver strong CPU horsepower for high frame rates and demanding multitasking.
While the mention of an RTX 5070 Laptop GPU with 12GB of GDDR7 is effectively a quiet confirmation that such a GPU is coming, MSI hasn’t shared key specifics yet. There’s no performance data, power rating details, or clarity on how this 12GB model will compare to the current RTX 5070 laptop variant. MSI also hasn’t provided an exact release date or on-sale timing for the Crosshair 16 Max HX E2WGXK.
Even so, MSI’s product listing language makes one thing clear: Nvidia’s RTX 50-series laptop lineup may be expanding soon, and more VRAM on a GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU could be an important quality-of-life boost for buyers shopping for a future-proof gaming laptop in 2026.
