Montage Technology Unveils DDR5 RDIMM Clock Driver With Speeds Up to 9200 MT/s

Montage Technology has introduced its newest DDR5 registered clock driver, the RCD06, designed for high-performance RDIMM memory modules used in servers and data centers. The new chip supports data transfer rates of up to 9200 MT/s, giving memory manufacturers another option as demand for faster, more efficient server memory continues to grow.

The launch comes at a time when artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and memory-heavy enterprise workloads are pushing data centers to adopt faster DDR5 memory solutions. RDIMM modules remain a popular choice for servers because they offer a strong balance of performance, reliability, density, and cost. While newer memory types can provide even higher capacity, they often come at a significantly higher price, making RDIMMs an important part of current and next-generation infrastructure.

Montage Technology previously introduced a high-speed DDR5 clock driver for client platforms with support for up to 9200 MT/s. With the new RCD06, the company is bringing that same speed target to the RDIMM segment, strengthening its position in the growing server memory market.

According to Montage Technology, demand for memory bandwidth is rising rapidly as AI and cloud workloads become more complex. The company says its RCD06 chip has completed engineering sample development and has already been sampled to major memory customers worldwide. Montage is also working with memory manufacturers, CPU vendors, and end users to help speed up adoption of the latest DDR5 server memory technology.

The RCD06 offers a 15 percent performance improvement compared to the previous generation. It uses a dual-channel architecture with two sub-channels that share clock logic while operating independently. This design allows separate parity checks without interference, improving reliability for data center environments where stability is critical.

To enhance signal quality, Montage Technology has integrated continuous-time linear equalization and a low-jitter phase-locked loop into the new DDR5 RDIMM clock driver. These technologies help improve signal integrity and maintain accurate, stable clock distribution, which is especially important at higher memory speeds such as 9200 MT/s.

The company is currently sampling the RCD06 to domestic partners and says the chip is being prepared for compatibility with upcoming data center platforms. Montage also plans to continue working with supply chain partners to support broader deployment of advanced DDR5 memory technologies.

The arrival of a 9200 MT/s DDR5 RDIMM clock driver gives memory module makers more flexibility when designing high-speed server memory products. It also reflects the broader push among Chinese semiconductor firms to accelerate DDR5 and DRAM development. Companies in the region are already working on faster DDR5 modules, with some consumer-focused products reaching up to 8000 MT/s.

With the RCD06 now targeting the server memory market, faster DDR5 RDIMM kits could become more widely validated for data center and enterprise platforms. As AI workloads continue to expand, memory bandwidth will remain one of the most important factors in overall system performance, making high-speed RDIMM technology a key area of innovation.
