Moltbook shot to viral fame by leaning hard into an “AI-only” identity—an idea that instantly grabbed attention, sparked curiosity, and encouraged people to test what the platform could do. But that momentum quickly took a darker turn as the buzz shifted from novelty to cybersecurity concerns, raising uncomfortable questions about data protection, authentication, and what “AI-only” really means in practice.

Researchers later reported finding a misconfigured Supabase database tied to the platform. The exposed data reportedly included around 35,000 email addresses and roughly 1.5 million API tokens. The good news is that the issue was said to be fixed within hours of being disclosed. The bad news is what that exposure may have allowed while it was live: reports indicate private messages were also accessible, and leaked tokens could potentially be used for account impersonation or even to tamper with content.
