Modern Warfare 4 Beta Appears to Reveal New NVIDIA DLSS Version and DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction

The Modern Warfare 4 Beta has already given PC players more than early access to the next major shooter. Shortly after the preorder beta went live on August 21, players digging through the game files spotted what appears to be a new NVIDIA DLSS build, along with the first known appearance of DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction inside a playable game.

NVIDIA had already indicated that DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction was planned for release this month, but until now, no major game had been seen using it. The Modern Warfare 4 preorder beta seems to have changed that, giving enthusiasts an early look at the upgraded reconstruction model before a wider rollout.

The newly discovered DLSS package is labeled version 310.7.128. Since its discovery, PC gaming enthusiasts have started testing the files in other supported titles by manually replacing the existing DLSS DLL files. Early testing suggests that the new version may offer visible improvements in image stability, lighting quality, and motion detail, depending on the game and settings used.

Players who want to experiment with the new DLSS files are currently relying on tools such as Profile Inspector or DLSS Swapper. Using the NVIDIA app alone may not work properly, as it may fail to detect all of the new files or show them as available options.

For DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction testing, users need the nvngx_dlssd.dll file from the 310.7.128 build. Before making any changes, it is strongly recommended to back up the original DLSS files in the game folder. After that, the older file can be replaced with the newer one. Players should also make sure DLSS overrides are either disabled or set to use the game’s own application settings inside the NVIDIA app.

Another important step is changing the Ray Reconstruction preset after swapping the file. The newer DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction model reportedly uses Preset F. In Profile Inspector, this can be selected through the “DLSS-RR – Forced Letter Preset” option by choosing value 6, which corresponds to Preset F.

So far, community testers have reported successful results in games such as Alan Wake 2, Cyberpunk 2077, Crimson Desert, and Hogwarts Legacy. To confirm whether the new model is actually active, players can use NVIDIA’s DLSS debug overlay, which is available through DLSSTweaks. This overlay shows the active DLSS preset and helps verify whether the updated Ray Reconstruction model is being used.

NVIDIA previously described DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction as a major upgrade over the existing model. The new version is said to use a second-generation transformer model with 20% more parameters and 35% more compute capability, while aiming to keep performance close to the previous implementation. The goal is to improve temporal stability, lighting accuracy, fine detail, and overall image quality during motion.

Early feedback from testers appears promising. Reports mention reduced ghosting, less temporal flickering, and sharper detail in certain scenes. As always with DLSS and ray reconstruction technology, the final visual result can vary depending on the game engine, resolution, ray tracing settings, and the overall graphics profile being used.

The discovered DLL file is dated June 12, which suggests it may not be the final public release version. NVIDIA’s official rollout could arrive with a newer build, possibly including additional refinements, wider compatibility, and improved integration through standard driver or app updates.

With August nearly over, the full release of the new DLSS version and DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction appears to be close. A wider announcement could arrive soon, especially with major gaming events taking place and several publishers preparing new PC technology updates.
