Minix Launches Budget-Friendly AMD Mini PC with Dual Gigabit Ethernet

Minix ZR535 Mini PC Debuts With AMD Ryzen Power, Dual Ethernet, and Triple Display Support

Minix has unveiled the ZR535, a compact AMD-powered mini PC designed for everyday computing, home office use, media playback, and light server-style tasks. While it does not use AMD’s newest mobile silicon, the system still brings a practical mix of performance, expandability, and connectivity in a small desktop footprint.

At the center of the Minix ZR535 is the AMD Ryzen 5 3501U, a quad-core processor from AMD’s Picasso family. It is based on the older Zen+ architecture, so users should not expect cutting-edge gaming or creator-class performance. However, for web browsing, document work, video streaming, basic multitasking, and lightweight productivity, the chip should still be capable enough.

The Ryzen 5 3501U also includes Radeon RX Vega 8 integrated graphics. This iGPU is not in the same league as newer AMD graphics solutions such as the Radeon 780M, but it remains suitable for regular media use, casual workloads, and basic display output. Performance is expected to be in a similar range to Intel N97-based mini PCs, making the ZR535 a practical option for users who want a compact Windows or Linux machine for daily tasks.

One of the more interesting parts of the Minix ZR535 is its cooling design. Minix has equipped the mini PC with a dual-fan cooling system, including dedicated cooling for the SSD. That could help maintain steadier performance during longer workloads, especially in such a compact chassis.

The ZR535 also stands out thanks to its dual Gigabit Ethernet ports. This makes it more flexible than many basic mini PCs, particularly for users interested in networking, firewall setups, lightweight home lab projects, or a small NAS-style system. Combined with its storage expansion options, the dual LAN setup gives the ZR535 appeal beyond basic desktop use.

Port selection is another strong point. The Minix ZR535 includes:

1 USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port

3 USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports

1 USB 2.0 Type-A port

1 HDMI 2.1 port

1 DisplayPort 1.4 port

1 3.5mm audio jack

2 Gigabit Ethernet ports

For wireless connectivity, the mini PC comes with WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0. While WiFi 6 would have been more modern, WiFi 5 remains adequate for general browsing, streaming, and office use.

The compact PC also includes two SO-DIMM DDR4 memory slots and two M.2 SSD slots, giving users room for upgrades. Triple display output support is another useful feature, especially for productivity setups, dashboards, office desks, or monitoring stations.

Minix also offers two power profiles for the ZR535, with 15W and 28W TDP modes. This allows users to balance power consumption, heat, and performance depending on how they plan to use the system.

For pricing, the Minix ZR535 is currently listed in a single configuration with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD for $529. Availability details have not yet been confirmed.

Overall, the Minix ZR535 is not aimed at users chasing the fastest mini PC performance. Instead, it targets buyers who want a compact AMD mini PC with solid everyday performance, multiple display outputs, expandable storage, and dual Ethernet connectivity. For home offices, media centers, light productivity, or small network-focused projects, it could be a useful and versatile option.
