Mini-ITX Powerhouse Packs 96GB DDR5 and a 12-Core AMD Zen 5 APU

Axiomtek has unveiled the GMB150, a compact mini-ITX motherboard designed to bring AMD’s latest embedded Zen 5 platform into small-form-factor gaming systems. While embedded mini-ITX boards are often built for industrial machines, kiosks, automation, and commercial deployments, this new model is being positioned as a gaming-ready solution with strong CPU performance, modern integrated graphics, and generous memory support.

The Axiomtek GMB150 measures 17 x 17 cm, or about 6.7 x 6.7 inches, following the standard mini-ITX footprint. That makes it suitable for compact gaming PCs, space-saving workstations, arcade-style builds, edge computing systems, and custom enclosures where a full-size motherboard would not fit.

At the heart of the board is AMD’s Ryzen AI Embedded P100 series, a family of processors based on the Zen 5 architecture. Depending on the configuration, the GMB150 can be equipped with chips ranging from 4 cores to 12 cores. The top configuration supports the AMD Ryzen AI P185 APU, which features 12 cores and 24 threads.

This high-end embedded processor is closely related to AMD’s consumer Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 platform. The main differences are slightly adjusted boost clocks and a more conservative power profile, which is typical for embedded hardware designed for reliability and long-term availability. Even with those adjustments, the performance potential is expected to be strong enough for demanding compact systems.

Graphics are handled by integrated RDNA 3.5 GPUs, with configurations ranging from 2 compute units to 16 compute units depending on the selected Ryzen P100 chip. While users looking for maximum gaming performance may still prefer a dedicated graphics card, the higher-end RDNA 3.5 integrated graphics options should offer solid performance for lightweight gaming, emulation, media playback, digital signage, and GPU-accelerated workloads.

Axiomtek plans several processor options for the GMB150 lineup. Alongside the flagship Ryzen AI P185, lower-tier versions are expected with the Ryzen AI P121, P132, P164, and P174. These options include 4-core, 6-core, 8-core, and 10-core configurations, giving system builders more flexibility depending on performance needs, power targets, and budget.

Memory support is another major highlight. The GMB150 includes two DDR5-5600 SODIMM slots and can support up to 96 GB of RAM. That is a substantial amount for a mini-ITX embedded gaming motherboard and makes the board useful not only for gaming-focused systems but also for multitasking, content creation, virtualization, AI-assisted workloads, and compact workstation builds.

For storage, the motherboard includes one M.2 2280 slot for fast SSD storage and two SATA 3 ports for additional drives. This combination gives builders the option to use a high-speed NVMe SSD as the primary drive while adding SATA SSDs or hard drives for extra storage capacity.

Connectivity is clearly geared toward embedded and specialized applications as well as compact PC builds. The board includes three USB 2.0 Type-A ports, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 port, two RS-232 COM ports, four RS-232 box headers, dual USB 2.0 box headers, one internal USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A connection, dual Gigabit Ethernet, and an 8-bit GPIO header.

Expansion options include a PCIe x8 slot using a physical x16 connector, an M.2 2230 slot, and two proprietary PCIe-based “Golden Finger” expansion connectors for Axiomtek I/O modules. This gives the GMB150 room to support additional networking, storage, graphics, or custom expansion features depending on the final system design.

The dual Gigabit Ethernet ports may be especially appealing for users building small servers, network appliances, gaming machines with dedicated network routing, or industrial gaming and simulation systems. Combined with its compact size and embedded processor platform, the board could serve several roles beyond a traditional mini gaming PC.

The GMB150 stands out because it blends two markets that do not always overlap: embedded computing and gaming-oriented small-form-factor hardware. Embedded motherboards usually prioritize long lifecycle support, durability, and specialized I/O. Gaming hardware, on the other hand, focuses on strong CPU and GPU performance. With Ryzen AI Embedded P100 processors, DDR5 memory support, RDNA 3.5 graphics, and mini-ITX compatibility, Axiomtek appears to be aiming for a balance between both worlds.

Pricing has not yet been announced. Axiomtek says the GMB150 will be available soon, with quotes likely offered directly depending on configuration and order volume. Since this is an embedded-focused product rather than a typical retail gaming motherboard, availability may be aimed more at system integrators, OEMs, and specialized PC builders than mainstream DIY buyers.

For users interested in compact AMD-powered gaming systems, the GMB150 could become an interesting option if pricing is competitive. Its top Ryzen AI P185 configuration should offer strong multi-core performance, modern integrated graphics, and enough memory capacity for demanding use cases, all within a tiny mini-ITX footprint.
