For everyday users, that sounds like a clear win. But for PC gamers, laptop enthusiasts, and anyone who relies on undervolting tools, enabling Memory Integrity may come with some unwanted side effects.

Memory Integrity is part of Microsoft’s broader Virtualization-Based Security, or VBS, system. It works by using hardware virtualization to isolate sensitive parts of Windows and make sure only trusted drivers and code can operate in kernel mode. Since kernel-level access is one of the most dangerous areas for malware to exploit, Microsoft sees this as an important step toward making Windows 11 more secure by default.

However, the feature is not without controversy. One of the biggest concerns is gaming performance.
