Microsoft Unveils Surface Laptop 8 With 64GB RAM and Intel Arc B390 Power

Microsoft Surface Laptop 8 arrives with Intel Panther Lake, up to 64GB RAM, and a built-in privacy screen option

Microsoft has introduced the Surface Laptop 8, bringing a more powerful hardware refresh to its premium laptop lineup. The new model focuses on performance, privacy, and business-ready features, making it a strong option for professionals who want a sleek Windows laptop with modern Intel processing power.

One of the standout additions to the Surface Laptop 8 is its integrated privacy screen technology. This feature can be turned on quickly by pressing the F1 key, giving users an easier way to protect sensitive information while working in public spaces, offices, airports, or shared environments. However, there is one limitation: the privacy screen option is not available on Surface Laptop 8 models equipped with 5G modems.

Microsoft is also keeping several familiar connectivity features. All Surface Laptop 8 models continue to include the Surface Connect port, giving users compatibility with Microsoft’s existing charging and docking accessories. The larger 15-inch version also retains a microSD card reader, which remains useful for photographers, content creators, and professionals who frequently transfer files from cameras or other devices.

The biggest internal upgrade is the move from Intel Lunar Lake processors to newer Intel Panther Lake chips. The Surface Laptop 8 can be configured with up to an Intel Core Ultra X7 368H processor. This chip also includes Intel’s Arc B390 integrated graphics, giving the laptop stronger visual performance for productivity, creative workflows, light gaming, and graphics-heavy applications.

Memory options have also been expanded, with configurations available with up to 64GB of RAM. That makes the Surface Laptop 8 better suited for demanding multitasking, large spreadsheets, development work, design software, and business users who need long-term performance headroom.

Pricing for the Surface Laptop 8 starts at $1,949.99 in the United States. Models equipped with the integrated privacy screen start at $2,549.99. With its upgraded Intel Panther Lake processor options, premium design, optional privacy display, and high memory ceiling, the Surface Laptop 8 is positioned as a high-end Windows laptop for business users and professionals who value performance and security.
