Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is set to showcase the enhanced specifications of the upcoming Switch 2. However, there’s a buzz about a potential delay in its release. Initially scheduled for 2025, insider Reece “Kiwi Talkz” Reilly shared that the game’s development is still in progress.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has faced multiple challenges since it was first announced. Fans were hopeful when a 2025 release was finally confirmed for the much-anticipated title by Retro Studios. However, Reece “Kiwi Talkz” Reilly, a well-known industry insider, has hinted that the release might face additional delays. Although Reilly remains open to a 2025 launch, he suggests ongoing development could push it further.
Reilly, who frequently interviews game developers on YouTube, recently highlighted the similarities between the teams behind Donkey Kong Bananza and Super Mario Odyssey. Responding to growing frustrations over the lack of a definitive release date, Reilly shared updates on social media. While he didn’t delve into specific reasons for the lengthy development process, he promised to provide more insights if upcoming announcements from Nintendo remain silent on the matter. He also noted that Nintendo isn’t pressuring Retro Studios to rush the game’s development.
Some fans argue that Nintendo won’t postpone the game’s release again, especially after two trailers have already been released this year. In June, a Metroid Prime 4: Beyond advertisement mistakenly appeared in the London Underground, stating “Out Now.” This was quickly clarified as a timing error by a Nintendo representative, but it indicates that marketing efforts are well underway.
Given the hurdles Metroid Prime 4 has encountered since its initial announcement in 2017, it’s wise to remain cautiously optimistic. The development process underwent significant changes when Nintendo handed the project from Bandai Namco to Retro Studios in 2019, aiming for top-tier quality just like its predecessors. Despite this, fans continue to wait patiently for its release.
