Stalker 2 is stirring up quite the buzz, especially with how it’s set to perform on Nvidia’s cutting-edge GeForce RTX 4000 series graphics cards. According to recent details, playing this game at 4K resolution with the ‘Epic’ settings turned on, and when matched with an Intel Core i9-14900K and 64 GB of RAM, even the powerful GeForce RTX 4090 struggles to maintain a stable 60 FPS unless DLSS is engaged. Since these insights come from Nvidia’s own benchmarks, real-world performance might take an even harder hit.
The scenario doesn’t improve much when you drop down to 1440p or 1080p, as DLSS 3 is nearly essential to secure playable frame rates on hardware that meets the game’s recommended specifications. Interestingly, Nvidia hasn’t clarified if these tests included ray tracing, a feature that could undoubtedly challenge even the mightiest RTX 4090.
There’s a glimpse of promise for laptop gamers, particularly at the 1080p setting. For those with an entry-level GeForce RTX 4050, Stalker 2 can be enjoyed at max settings. With some tweaks and compromises, you can manage a smooth 60 FPS on older RTX 3000 series laptops.
Clearly, Stalker 2 is shaping up to be one of the most graphically demanding titles of its generation. While current hardware faces challenges, the prospects look brighter for future releases like the GeForce RTX 5090 and 5080. Pair those with powerful processors such as the Ryzen 9 9950X3D, and tackling Stalker 2 becomes a much more feasible task.
