Mars Attracts 1.0 Launch Details: Release Date, Sandbox Mode, and Major Updates

Mars Attracts 1.0 Release Date Confirmed With Sandbox Mode, Bigger Research Tree, and New Human Enclosures

Mars Attracts is officially preparing to leave Early Access, and its full 1.0 launch is set for September 24, 2026. Developed by Outlier, the darkly comedic theme park management game is based on the licensed Mars Attacks universe and turns the usual park-building formula into something far stranger, nastier, and more memorable.

After launching in Early Access in September 2025, Mars Attracts has spent roughly a year evolving with help from player feedback. The upcoming 1.0 update brings several major additions, including a full Sandbox Mode, an expanded research system, new types of human captive enclosures, improved park logistics, and the final map for the story campaign.

In Mars Attracts, players take on the role of Martian CEOs tasked with building a profitable tourist attraction on the red planet. But this is not a normal theme park sim. Instead of managing animal exhibits or roller coaster queues, players abduct humans from Earth and place them inside carefully designed enclosures for Martian visitors to observe, study, and occasionally terrorize.

The game’s twisted appeal comes from its unusual mix of business management, dark humor, and sci-fi chaos. Players can capture humans from different historical periods, including Ancient Rome, the Wild West, and Feudal Japan. Each captive group has its own needs, environmental preferences, and behavioral problems, forcing players to balance human comfort with the expectations of paying Martian guests.

Keeping humans too miserable can lead to escapes and destruction. Keeping them too happy may reduce the spectacle that visitors came to see. That tension is at the heart of the Mars Attracts gameplay loop, where every decision affects profit, park safety, and guest satisfaction.

One of the biggest additions in the 1.0 release is Sandbox Mode. This new mode gives players the freedom to build without the usual financial limits or research restrictions. For fans who want to focus purely on creative park design, elaborate enclosures, and chaotic experimentation, Sandbox Mode should be one of the most exciting features in the full release.

The 1.0 update also improves the management side of the game. New specialized porters will help keep vendor supply chains running smoothly, reducing some of the logistical headaches that can come with larger parks. Security is also being upgraded, with stronger guard units able to subdue rampaging humans before they damage attractions or endanger Martian visitors.

The research tree is being expanded as well, giving players more ways to unlock buildings, staff improvements, and park upgrades. Research is tied to experiments performed on captive humans, reinforcing the game’s sinister Mars Attacks tone while adding more depth to long-term progression.

New enclosure types will allow players to house a wider range of abducted humans, including famous historical figures such as Julius Caesar and Cleopatra. These additions should make park layouts more varied and give players more reasons to experiment with different exhibit designs.

Outlier has emphasized that the full version of Mars Attracts builds on the foundation established during Early Access rather than replacing it. Core systems such as money management, hiring staff, expanding across multiple maps, and running a profitable Martian attraction remain central to the experience.

For players already in Early Access, a pre-launch beta playtest is currently available. This test includes access to the new campaign mission and Sandbox Mode, giving existing players an early look at what the 1.0 update will bring.

Mars Attracts launches in full on September 24, 2026, for PC via Steam. With its blend of park management, historical abductions, alien cruelty, and dark comedy, it is shaping up to be one of the more unusual management sims for players who enjoy strategy games with a bizarre sci-fi twist.
