Mark Zuckerberg states Meta is opposite of Apple

Mark Zuckerberg Calls Meta The “Antithesis of Apple,” Emphasizes User Feedback Over Product Polish

Mark Zuckerberg has never been one to keep his opinions to himself, especially when it comes to Apple. In a recent interview, he once again highlighted the stark differences between his company, Meta, and Tim Cook’s Apple. Zuckerberg critiqued Apple’s approach to product development, emphasizing that Meta offers a markedly different path to innovation.

While the product lines of Apple and Meta might diverge greatly, the Meta Quest and Apple’s Vision Pro have created a competitive battleground between the tech giants. Zuckerberg has frequently voiced his skepticism about Apple’s Vision Pro and overall strategies. In a candid chat on the Acquired podcast, Zuckerberg articulated his belief that Meta embodies a completely different business philosophy compared to Apple.

“In a lot of ways, we’re like the opposite of Apple. Clearly, their stuff has worked well too. They take this approach that’s like, ‘We’re going to take a long time, we’re going to polish it, and we’re going to put it out.’ And maybe for the stuff that they’re doing that works, maybe that just fits with their culture,” Zuckerberg noted.

Zuckerberg went on to champion Meta’s approach, which prioritizes rapid iteration and user feedback over waiting for perfection. He argued that in the fast-paced tech environment, it’s crucial to release products quickly and learn from user experiences and tech community input. This stands in contrast to Apple’s method of shipping products only when they believe they have reached an optimal state.

“You want to really have a culture that values shipping and getting things out and getting feedback more than needing always to get great positive accolades from people when you put stuff out. If you wait until you get praised all the time, you’re missing a bunch of the time when you could’ve learned a bunch of useful stuff and then incorporated that into the next version you’re going to ship,” Zuckerberg elaborated.

The rivalry isn’t one-sided; Tim Cook has also criticized Meta, particularly its privacy policies. It’s clear that the competition between the two tech giants extends beyond products to fundamental business philosophies. As Meta and Apple continue to innovate and compete, their differing strategies underline the dynamic landscape of the tech industry.
