Madoka Magica Smartwatches Evolve With Every Heartbeat

Madoka Magica Smartwatches Turn Your Heart Rate Into a Magical-Girl Transformation

A new Puella Magi Madoka Magica smartwatch collection is bringing one of the anime’s most iconic ideas to life in a fun and wearable way: transformation powered by emotion, or in this case, your heartbeat.

Japanese company Ueni Trading has announced six Garrack smartwatches inspired by the beloved magical-girl series. Each model features one major character from Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Madoka Kaname, Homura Akemi, Sayaka Miki, Kyoko Sakura, Mami Tomoe, and Nagisa Momoe.

The standout feature is the animated watch face. When the wearer’s heart rate rises to a certain level, the character displayed on the screen changes into her magical-girl form. The company has not revealed the exact heart-rate threshold, but preview images show Madoka’s display changing as the reading climbs from 96 bpm to 115 bpm.

Each Madoka Magica smartwatch is priced at ¥10,890, including tax, in Japan. Pre-orders opened on October 9, with the smartwatches scheduled to launch on October 30.

The character-themed designs go beyond a simple anime wallpaper. The collection page shows animated backgrounds and special notification effects inspired by Soul Gems, one of the most recognizable symbols from the series. Homura Akemi’s version uses a Dark Orb instead, giving her model a distinct look that matches her character.

Despite the anime-focused design, these are still practical smartwatches. The Garrack Madoka Magica models include heart-rate monitoring, blood-oxygen tracking, sleep tracking, stress tracking, and 100 workout modes. They are compatible with both iOS and Android through Huawei Health.

The watch body weighs around 16 grams without the strap, making it a lightweight option for daily use. Each model also comes with a spare black band and a character-themed presentation box, making the collection especially appealing for fans and collectors.

Alongside the smartwatches, Garrack is also releasing five Puella Magi Madoka Magica ring watches. These are not smart rings, but traditional quartz watches designed to be worn on the finger. Each one is inspired by the Soul Gems from the anime.

The ring watches are priced at ¥16,500 each and feature Japanese quartz movements, stainless-steel cases, and 5 ATM water resistance. Their dials use raden, a traditional Japanese decorative technique that applies thin pieces of iridescent shell by hand. This gives each dial a shimmering, jewel-like appearance that fits the magical theme of the series.

The smartwatches will arrive first on October 30, while the ring watches are set to launch later on December 11. For now, announced pricing and availability apply to Japan.

With heart-rate-triggered character transformations, anime-inspired effects, and collectible presentation packaging, the Garrack Puella Magi Madoka Magica smartwatches offer a playful mix of wearable technology and fan-focused design. For Madoka Magica fans, this may be one of the most creative anime smartwatch collaborations yet.
