LIFX has unveiled a new collection of outdoor smart lights designed to enhance exterior lighting with innovative features and smart technology. The new offerings from LIFX include a variety of lighting solutions such as string lights, a flexible light strip, path lights, and a spotlight, aiming to provide an alternative to popular options like Philips Hue.
Among the key selling points that set the LIFX range apart is the ability to deliver vibrant color blending effects and exceptional brightness levels. One standout item, the Smart Neon Flex Light, packs an impressive brightness of up to 2,150 lumens.
These outdoor smart lights mark the company’s latest step forward since being acquired by Feit Electric. The new LIFX lights boast a color temperature spectrum ranging from 1,500 to 9,000K, which covers a warmer and cooler range compared to the 2,000 to 6,500K typically offered by Philips Hue.
The LIFX products are designed for easy connectivity and do not require a bridge since they connect directly to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. Compatibility with Matter — except for the string lights, which will be updated to support Matter in the future — ensures seamless integration with home automation systems including Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, and Google Home. Controls are accessible through the LIFX app and various voice assistants.
Diving into the product specifics, the LIFX Smart String Light features 12 LED bulbs on a 24-foot weather-resistant cord, producing up to 600 lumens of brightness. The robust LIFX Smart Neon Flex Light stretches 16 feet and comes with an IP67 rating, delivering up to 2,150 lumens. The LIFX Path Lights are available in square and round designs, offering up to 500 and 800 lumens respectively, each with six color blending zones and IP66 ratings for dust and waterproof protection. For those seeking a more economical option, the LIFX Smart Spotlight provides three lighting zones and shines with a maximum of 1,600 lumens.
The newly launched LIFX outdoor smart lighting collection is initially available exclusively at Home Depot stores in the United States, with prices starting at $79.99. While availability in other retail outlets and regions is yet to be announced, the company has revealed plans to expand its product range over the next 18 months.
The launch brings fresh options for consumers looking to enhance their outdoor environments with smart, responsive lighting, and offers an intriguing alternative to existing products in the smart home market.
