LG Unveils 32-Inch E-Paper Display With Spectra 6 Color, Built-In Battery, Qi2 Support, and webOS
LG has introduced a new 32-inch e-paper display designed for indoor digital signage, offering a low-power alternative to traditional screens for shops, hotels, restaurants, offices, and public spaces. The model, known as the LG 32RS1Q-B, uses E Ink’s Spectra 6 color e-paper technology, giving it a printed-paper look that stands out in bright indoor environments while consuming very little energy.
Unlike conventional LCD or OLED signage, this LG e-paper display is built for content that does not need constant motion. It is ideal for digital menus, promotional posters, product information boards, hotel lobby announcements, retail advertisements, and other static or semi-static visuals. The display can show vivid color content with a paper-like appearance, making it especially useful in locations where a natural, non-glare presentation is preferred.
The 32-inch panel features a 2560 x 1440 resolution, delivering sharp text and detailed graphics. From a normal viewing distance, the display resembles a printed poster, while the e-paper structure only becomes noticeable when viewed very closely. Because it is based on e-paper technology, changing the image is not instant like on a regular screen. Updates take a little time and may cause a brief flashing effect, which is typical for this type of display.
LG’s new digital signage display is meant strictly for indoor use. It is rated for operating temperatures between 32°F and 104°F, with humidity support up to 70%. While Spectra 6 offers stronger color reproduction than many other e-paper panels, it is not designed for harsh outdoor conditions. LG also warns that the display should not be placed in direct sunlight, such as inside storefront windows, because excessive heat could affect performance.
One of the biggest advantages of the LG 32RS1Q-B is its portability. The display is just 0.7 inches thick and weighs around 6.8 pounds, making it easier to mount, move, and integrate into different indoor environments. It also includes a 72 Wh battery, reducing the need for a constant power cable. That makes it useful for spaces where running wires would be inconvenient or visually distracting.
Power consumption is extremely low compared with traditional digital signage. LG says the display uses around 0.5 watts when idle or in power-saving mode and up to 6 watts while actively updating content. Actual battery life will depend on how often images are changed, but the intelligent power-saving mode is designed to keep energy use minimal when the content remains static.
For easier maintenance, LG has added a magnetic Qi2 wireless charging interface on the back. A compatible Qi2 power bank can deliver up to 15 watts wirelessly, although LG describes this feature mainly as a way to extend runtime rather than fully recharge the internal battery. For direct charging, the display includes a USB Type-C port.
The LG e-paper display also supports WiFi and runs a version of webOS customized for digital signage. This allows multiple units to be managed centrally, which is important for businesses deploying several displays across a store, office, hotel, or restaurant. Content can currently be transferred through WiFi or USB Type-C, while Bluetooth pairing is expected to arrive through a firmware update later in 2026.
LG has not yet announced official pricing for the 32RS1Q-B. That is not unusual for commercial digital signage products, as pricing often depends on project size, deployment needs, and volume orders.
With its color E Ink Spectra 6 panel, slim design, battery-powered operation, Qi2 support, and webOS-based management, LG’s 32-inch e-paper display is aimed at businesses looking for a cleaner, more energy-efficient way to present static digital content indoors. For retailers, restaurants, hotels, and corporate spaces, it could offer the visual appeal of printed signage with the flexibility of digital updates.
