LG Predicts Continued Surge in OLED Monitor Sales

OLED monitors are swiftly becoming the go-to choice for both gamers and professionals due to their exceptional color accuracy and remarkable black levels. Despite their higher price point compared to traditional IPS and VA panels, the demand for OLED displays is skyrocketing. LG recently released a new sales forecast that supports previous predictions about the growing interest in these advanced screens.

In January, it was reported that OLED monitors made up 22 percent of all new monitor sales. Now, LG predicts that the OLED market will grow from $75 million in 2022 to over $1 billion by 2025. This indicates a significant shift toward OLED technology, not just from LG but also from other major players like Samsung and MSI, who have found success with QD-OLED panels known for enhanced brightness. Interestingly, several lesser-known Chinese brands are also joining the race by offering more affordable OLED options.

As more companies invest in OLED technology, the range of options available to consumers continues to expand. Samsung’s 49-inch Odyssey ultrawide OLED monitor, for instance, is designed to provide an immersive gaming experience or serve as an alternative to multiple 16:9 monitors in a professional setup. Meanwhile, LG has unveiled a 45-inch OLED monitor with a 5K2K resolution, aiming to impress those who value larger screens. MSI has also introduced the 27-inch MPG 272URX 4K OLED gaming monitor, which caters to esports enthusiasts with its impressive 240 Hz refresh rate.

With the growing competition among brands, OLED monitor prices are beginning to drop to more affordable, mid-range levels. Manufacturers are also adding innovative features to address concerns about burn-in, ensuring durability. Although OLED monitors currently lack the brightness levels seen in their TV counterparts, efforts to improve this aspect could further boost their appeal. As LG and other brands continue to enhance OLED monitor brightness, the technology is likely to attract an even wider audience.
