Lexar has added a fresh option to the growing list of DDR5 memory kits with the launch of its new THOR Z RGB series. While pricing and a firm release date haven’t been shared yet, the new kit is clearly aimed at PC builders who want modern DDR5 performance paired with standout RGB lighting and a clean, minimalist look.
DDR5 launches have slowed down compared to earlier waves, when new flagship kits and record-breaking overclocks appeared constantly. With ongoing supply pressures around DDR5 memory chips, many brands are leaning more toward mainstream, value-focused specifications instead of extreme, top-tier performance. The THOR Z RGB fits that trend: it’s designed to look premium and run fast enough for today’s Intel and AMD systems, without positioning itself as a no-compromise enthusiast kit.
The Lexar THOR Z RGB DDR5 memory is currently listed as a 32GB kit (2 x 16GB) using the standard DDR5 288-pin interface. It reaches speeds of up to 6000MT/s and supports both Intel XMP 3.0 and AMD EXPO, making setup easy on either platform. With XMP or EXPO enabled in the BIOS, users can quickly apply the rated speed and timings without manual tuning, while still leaving room for additional tweaking depending on the CPU and motherboard.
For latency and voltage, Lexar notes two 6000MT/s profiles:
– CL38-48-48-96 at 1.35V
– CL36-40-40-96 at 1.4V
Visually, THOR Z RGB focuses heavily on styling. Lexar highlights a sleek, minimalist heatspreader design, along with brighter RGB lighting intended to be bold and highly visible in a windowed case. The new version also adds a “Z” mark on the heatsink to distinguish it from similar THOR-branded kits.
RGB customization is handled through common motherboard lighting ecosystems, allowing users to sync memory lighting with the rest of their build. Compatibility includes ASRock Polychrome SYNC, ASUS AURA SYNC, GIGABYTE RGB FUSION 2.0, and MSI Mystic Light SYNC, so most builders can match colors and effects across fans, coolers, GPU lighting, and motherboard accents.
Lexar hasn’t confirmed how much the THOR Z RGB 32GB DDR5 kit will cost or when it will hit shelves. Still, with its 6000MT/s rating, dual XMP/EXPO support, and large RGB lightbar, it’s positioned as a stylish performance DDR5 option for gamers and creators putting together a modern Intel or AMD desktop.
