Lenovo ThinkBook 16p Gen 6 Gets New Intel CPU and NVIDIA RTX 5070 Graphics Option
Lenovo has expanded the ThinkBook 16p Gen 6 lineup with new hardware options, giving buyers more flexibility when choosing a powerful 16-inch laptop for creative work, multitasking, gaming, and everyday productivity.
The latest update adds Intel’s Core Ultra 7 251HX processor to the configuration list. This chip sits within Intel’s Arrow Lake HX family, but it is positioned as one of the more modest options in the series. With 18 cores, the Core Ultra 7 251HX fits between the Core Ultra 5 235HX and the more capable Core Ultra 7 255HX.
While it still offers strong performance for demanding workloads, users looking for maximum multi-core power should note that it falls behind Intel’s higher-end Core Ultra 9 290HX-class processors by more than 20% in multi-core tasks. That makes the new CPU option better suited for buyers who want a balance between performance and cost rather than the absolute fastest configuration available.
The bigger highlight is the addition of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 with 12GB of VRAM. Lenovo has capped this GPU at a 115W total graphics power rating, which should help balance performance, thermals, and battery life in the ThinkBook 16p Gen 6 chassis.
The move to 12GB of video memory is especially important for users who work with graphics-heavy applications or play modern games at higher settings. Compared with lower-VRAM options, the RTX 5070 12GB should provide more breathing room in select games, creative software, 3D workloads, and AI-assisted tasks that benefit from additional graphics memory.
Lenovo is also keeping several key features that make the ThinkBook 16p Gen 6 a strong multimedia and productivity laptop. The device continues to offer a 16-inch IPS display with a sharp 3.2K native resolution and a fast 165Hz refresh rate, making it suitable for content creation, entertainment, smooth scrolling, and casual gaming.
Other returning specifications include an 85Wh battery, dual M.2 2280 SSD slots for storage expansion, and support for up to 64GB of RAM. These features make the laptop appealing to creators, professionals, students, and power users who need a portable machine with room to grow over time.
At the moment, Lenovo has not confirmed pricing or availability for the new ThinkBook 16p Gen 6 configurations. However, the addition of the Core Ultra 7 251HX and GeForce RTX 5070 12GB gives the laptop more variety and makes it a more competitive option in the high-performance 16-inch laptop market.
