Lenovo has quietly expanded its ultraportable lineup with the IdeaPad Slim 5x 13Q8Y11, a new 13-inch laptop designed for people who want a compact machine with a smooth display and long battery life.
One of the standout features is its 120Hz IPS screen, which should make everyday scrolling, browsing, and light creative work feel noticeably more fluid than standard 60Hz panels. At the moment, this model can only be configured with a 1200p (1920 x 1200) display, even though Lenovo has indicated that a sharper 1600p option exists. For now, buyers are limited to the 1200p version, which still looks competitive on paper: it covers 100% of the sRGB color space, reaches up to 400 nits of peak brightness, and targets both productivity and entertainment users who want accurate colors and a bright panel for indoor and mixed lighting environments.
Battery performance is another major selling point. Lenovo has fitted the laptop with a 54.7Wh battery and rated it for more than 28 hours of video playback when playing 1080p local video at 150 nits. Real-world results will vary depending on workload and brightness, but the claim signals that Lenovo is positioning this as a true all-day (and then some) travel-friendly laptop. Charging is handled via 65W support, which should help top up the battery quickly when you do need to plug in.
Pricing and configurations are also starting to become clearer. In the UK, the IdeaPad Slim 5x 13Q8Y11 begins at £1,050. Across parts of the Eurozone, prices currently sit between €1,230 and €1,249. Base configurations ship with 16GB of LPDDR5X-9523 memory and 512GB of M.2 2242 storage, which should be plenty for everyday multitasking and productivity. For those who need more headroom, Lenovo is offering upgrades up to 32GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage, making it easier to spec the laptop for heavier workloads or longer-term use.
For now, Lenovo hasn’t confirmed when or if the IdeaPad Slim 5x 13Q8Y11 will roll out to additional markets beyond the regions already listed, so availability elsewhere remains the big question for interested buyers.
