Lenovo Legion Pro 5 16AFR10 gets an RTX 5070 12GB upgrade for global markets
Lenovo has quietly refreshed its AMD-powered Legion Pro 5 16AFR10 gaming laptop with a notable graphics upgrade. The 16-inch performance machine, which was previously available with Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5070 8GB laptop GPU, is now set to appear in a newer configuration featuring the GeForce RTX 5070 12GB variant.
The biggest change is the extra video memory. The updated RTX 5070 option increases VRAM from 8GB to 12GB, giving gamers and creators 50% more graphics memory to work with. That could be useful for modern PC games with high-resolution textures, heavier creative workloads, and multitasking scenarios where additional VRAM can help maintain smoother performance.
Aside from the GPU refresh, the Lenovo Legion Pro 5 16AFR10 keeps its high-end AMD hardware. The laptop continues to feature the Ryzen 9 9955HX, a powerful processor built with 16 Zen 5 cores. Lenovo pairs the chip with a 55 W TDP, positioning this model as a strong option for users who want desktop-class CPU performance in a portable gaming system.
The rest of the package remains just as competitive. Lenovo includes an 80 Wh battery and configurations with up to 32 GB of RAM. The display is another major highlight: a 16-inch OLED panel with a 1600p resolution and a fast 240 Hz refresh rate. It is also rated for 500 nits of SDR brightness and up to 1,100 nits peak brightness in HDR, making it appealing for both gaming and media consumption.
At the moment, the RTX 5070 12GB version of the Legion Pro 5 16AFR10 has appeared in Lenovo’s product specification database. That listing indicates that Lenovo has prepared model variants for major regions, suggesting a broader international rollout is planned.
While Lenovo has not made a major announcement for this refreshed configuration yet, all signs point to the upgraded Legion Pro 5 16AFR10 reaching global markets later this year. For buyers looking for a 16-inch gaming laptop with a powerful AMD Ryzen processor, a high-refresh OLED display, and a more capable RTX 5070 GPU configuration, this updated model could be one to watch.
