Lenovo Legion G9 Controller Gets a New Rhein Green Color for the Legion Tab Gen 5
Lenovo has introduced a fresh new color option for its Legion G9 Controller, the gaming accessory designed for the Legion Tab Gen 5, also known in China as the Legion Y700 Gen 5. The latest version arrives in Rhein Green, a striking shade that matches Lenovo’s 2026 FIFA World Cup Limited Edition lineup.
The Legion G9 Controller is built to transform Lenovo’s compact gaming tablet into a handheld gaming device. By connecting directly through USB-C, it gives the Legion Tab Gen 5 a console-like feel, making it more comfortable for mobile gaming sessions and cloud gaming.
The controller was first released in Carbon Gray, but the new Rhein Green variant adds a more distinctive look. In China, the Rhein Green model is priced at ¥599, which is roughly $89 or €77. That makes it slightly more expensive than the Carbon Gray version, which sells for ¥499, or about $74 and €64.
Part of the added appeal of the Rhein Green edition is its special football-inspired thumbstick caps. These accessories help tie the controller to Lenovo’s World Cup-themed products and give it a more collectible feel for fans of gaming and football alike.
In terms of hardware, the Rhein Green Legion G9 Controller keeps the same specifications as the standard model. It features Hall Effect joysticks, which are known for improved durability and reduced drift compared with traditional analog sticks. This is a key feature for players who spend long hours gaming and want more reliable controls.
The controller also includes four customizable rear buttons, giving users extra input options for competitive and action-heavy games. Lenovo says the controller supports 12-key macro functions, allowing players to create more advanced control setups for different titles.
For buttons, the Legion G9 Controller includes a micro-switch D-pad and micro-switch ABXY buttons, designed to deliver a crisp and responsive feel. Users can also switch between an Xbox-style layout and a Nintendo-style layout for the ABXY buttons, making it more flexible depending on personal preference or the games being played.
Other features include dual vibration motors for added immersion, RGB lighting for a gaming-focused look, and a 3.5 mm audio jack for wired headphones. There is also a USB-C passthrough charging port, so players can charge the tablet while continuing to use the controller.
For users outside China, the Rhein Green Legion G9 Controller may be available through international marketplace listings, although pricing can be higher than the official Chinese retail price. One listing places it at around $135, making it a more premium purchase for global buyers.
With the new Rhein Green colorway, Lenovo is giving Legion Tab Gen 5 owners another stylish way to upgrade their mobile gaming setup.
