Lenovo Legion Pro 7 Gets a Faster Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus Upgrade
Lenovo has refreshed its high-end Legion Pro 7 gaming laptop with a more powerful processor option, giving performance-focused gamers and creators another premium configuration to consider. The updated Lenovo Legion Pro 7 16IAX10H can now be equipped with Intel’s Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus, adding extra CPU power to an already impressive 16-inch gaming machine.
The laptop keeps the same overall design as the previous Legion Pro 7 model, but the internal upgrade makes it more competitive in the latest wave of premium gaming laptops. Until now, this model was available with up to the Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX. The new Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus is part of Intel’s newer Arrow Lake HX lineup and is designed for high-performance laptops that need serious processing power.
In benchmark comparisons, the Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus is expected to deliver around 7% better processor performance than the Core Ultra 9 275HX. The rest of the hardware remains firmly in flagship territory. In Europe, Lenovo is offering the updated Legion Pro 7 with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 GPU, 64 GB of RAM, a 1 TB PCIe Gen 5 SSD, and a 240 Hz OLED display. That combination makes the laptop especially appealing for users who want high refresh rates, deep contrast, fast storage, and strong graphics performance in one package.
The 240 Hz OLED screen is one of the standout features. With this refresh, Lenovo is not reinventing the Legion Pro 7, but it is giving the laptop a useful performance boost. The combination of Intel’s Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus, RTX 5080 graphics, a fast OLED display, and premium memory and storage options makes it one of the more powerful 16-inch gaming laptops currently available.
For buyers who already own a recent high-end Legion Pro 7, the performance improvement may not be enough to justify an upgrade.
