Leaked DJI Action 6 Points to Seamless Smartwatch Sync

DJI Action 6 leak teases smartwatch control, 8K video, and a bigger 1-inch sensor

Leaked tester images suggest DJI’s next action camera, the Action 6, is on the way with a sharper focus on smartwatch integration and pro-grade imaging. As with any early leak, details could change before launch, but what’s surfaced points to a significant upgrade over the previous generation.

One of the headline features is smartwatch connectivity designed for athletes and creators who prefer hands-free control. The Action 6 is expected to work with popular wearables like Apple Watch and Garmin. From the wrist, users could start and stop recording, switch shooting modes, and overlay GPS data in real time. The camera is said to sync metrics including speed, heart rate, distance, altitude, and route trajectory. Garmin owners may get additional activity-specific data such as power and cadence for cycling, pace for running, and even dive-related metrics.

Under the hood, the Action 6 reportedly moves to a larger 1-inch CMOS sensor, a big step up for low light and dynamic range in an action cam. Video modes are rumored to include 8K at 30 fps, 5.3K at 60 fps, 4K at 120 fps, and 1080p at 240 fps. A 10-bit D-Log M color profile with a claimed 13.5+ stops of dynamic range should appeal to color graders. Stabilization is expected to get a boost too, with RockSteady 4.0 and AI-assisted 360-degree HorizonSteady to keep footage level during intense movement.

Storage and connectivity look practical for on-the-go shooting. The camera is tipped to offer 47 to 64 GB of internal storage plus a microSD slot, along with Bluetooth 5.1, Wi‑Fi 6, and USB‑C. There’s chatter about potential DisplayPort support over USB‑C for direct video output. Ruggedness remains a priority: the Action 6 is said to be waterproof to roughly 18–20 meters without a case. A 1950 mAh battery is reportedly on board, with claims of more than four hours of 4K recording. To accommodate the larger sensor, expect a slightly bulkier housing.

Timing and pricing align with a prime fall launch window. An announcement is expected in mid-October, with pre-orders shortly after and shipping slated for late October to early November. Pricing is rumored to start between $329 and $429 for the Standard Combo, which should include the camera, basic mounts, and one battery. The Adventure Combo may land between $479 and $579, adding extra batteries, a protective case, and rugged mounts.

If these leaks hold, the DJI Action 6 is shaping up to be a compelling action camera for cyclists, runners, divers, and creators who want smartwatch control, next-level stabilization, and the flexibility of 8K capture in a tougher, more capable package. As always, treat early details with caution until the official reveal.
