With multiple leaks now pointing in the same direction, Apple’s long-rumored foldable iPhone is looking increasingly likely to make its debut at a September launch event.
The newest hint comes from wording found in the battery health section of iOS 27. Apple appears to have added new system messages that refer to “batteries” instead of a single “battery.” The lines reportedly include phrases such as “The batteries in this iPhone are performing as expected” and “The health of the batteries in this iPhone has significantly degraded.”
That plural wording is notable because every iPhone released so far has used a single battery system, and Apple’s software has always reflected that. A change to “batteries” strongly suggests that at least one upcoming iPhone model may feature more than one battery pack.
This detail fits neatly with ongoing reports about the iPhone Ultra, Apple’s expected foldable iPhone. Foldable smartphones often use two separate batteries, with one placed in each half of the device. This design helps balance weight, preserve internal space, and support the hinge-based structure required for a folding display.
