Ayaneo Next 2 Returns With a Much Higher Price Tag, and Only One Model Is Currently Available
The Ayaneo Next 2 is shaping up to be one of the most powerful handheld gaming PCs ever made, but its return to the market comes with a major catch: a significantly higher price.
Powered by the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU, the Ayaneo Next 2 was designed as a premium handheld for gamers who want desktop-class performance in a portable form factor. From the beginning, Ayaneo positioned the device as an “endgame” handheld, packed with high-end hardware and ambitious specifications. However, its path to release has been anything but smooth.
The handheld originally launched through a crowdfunding campaign and successfully attracted buyers, but Ayaneo later suspended additional pre-orders due to rising production costs. According to earlier company updates, storage prices increased dramatically after the Chinese New Year holiday, making it difficult to continue selling the device at its original pricing.
Now, the Ayaneo Next 2 has appeared again on the company’s official website, suggesting that Ayaneo may be preparing to sell the handheld directly. However, the updated pricing is far higher than what early buyers saw during the original campaign.
Previously, the Ayaneo Next 2 was offered in three configurations:
32 GB RAM with 1 TB storage for $1,999
64 GB RAM with 1 TB storage for $2,699
128 GB RAM with 2 TB storage for $4,299
The newly listed prices are much steeper:
32 GB RAM with 1 TB storage for $2,999
64 GB RAM with 1 TB storage for $3,699
128 GB RAM with 2 TB storage for $5,299
That means every configuration appears to have increased by $1,000. For a handheld gaming PC that was already among the most expensive in its category, the new pricing pushes the Ayaneo Next 2 into extremely premium territory.
At the moment, only the middle configuration, featuring 64 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage, appears to be available for purchase. The other two versions are listed with updated pricing, but they do not seem to be available to order right now.
The big question is whether the Ayaneo Next 2 can justify its new price. On paper, the device is undeniably powerful. The AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU gives it serious performance potential, and the high memory options make it stand out from most handheld gaming PCs currently on the market. The top model, with 128 GB of RAM and 2 TB of storage, is far beyond what most portable gaming devices offer.
Still, a $5,299 handheld gaming PC is a difficult sell for many buyers. At that price, users could build or buy a high-end gaming desktop, purchase a premium gaming laptop, or pick up multiple mainstream handheld consoles. The Ayaneo Next 2 may appeal to enthusiasts who want cutting-edge portable performance, but its pricing places it in a very niche segment.
Ayaneo previously stated that there were no plans for another production batch after the current one. The company had described the sales pause as temporary, with the possibility of resuming orders if storage prices became more reasonable. The new website listing raises fresh questions about whether Ayaneo has changed its plans or is simply offering limited units at revised prices.
For now, the Ayaneo Next 2 remains one of the most powerful and expensive handheld gaming PCs on the market. Its premium hardware is impressive, but the $1,000 price increase across all configurations may make even dedicated handheld gaming fans think twice.
