Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 processor leak hints at a major regional split
Samsung’s next wave of foldable phones is getting closer, and a fresh leak has added more fuel to one of the biggest questions surrounding the upcoming Galaxy Z lineup: which processors will power the new models?
With the next Galaxy Unpacked event scheduled for July 22, Samsung is expected to introduce its 2026 foldable range, including the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. While earlier leaks have already pointed to design changes and key hardware upgrades, the latest information focuses on chipset choices across different markets.
According to the latest leak, Samsung may once again use different processors depending on the region, similar to what it has done with some Galaxy S series models. This means buyers in Europe, Korea, and the United States may not all receive the same chip, especially if they are looking at the Galaxy Z Flip 8.
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is expected to be the only model in the new foldable lineup to feature Samsung’s Exynos 2600 processor in certain regions. The European version is reportedly set to use the Exynos 2600, the same chip expected in the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ sold in Europe. The Korean model may also ship with the Exynos 2600.
In contrast, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 sold in the United States is expected to come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. If accurate, this will likely lead to performance, battery life, and thermal comparisons between the Exynos and Snapdragon versions once the phone reaches reviewers and customers.
The situation appears to be different for Samsung’s larger foldables. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra are both expected to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor in Europe and other markets. Unlike the Flip model, the Fold lineup may offer the same chipset globally, which could appeal to users who prefer consistency across regions.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is also expected to power Samsung’s top-tier Galaxy S26 Ultra, making it the company’s premium chip choice for its most powerful flagship devices. For the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, this could translate into stronger multitasking, improved gaming performance, better AI features, and more efficient power management.
Samsung has already started accepting reservations for its upcoming foldable phones ahead of the official launch. Customers who reserve early may receive promotional benefits such as Samsung store credit and additional savings when they pre-order and complete a purchase.
Although Samsung has not officially confirmed the processor details yet, the leak gives a clearer picture of what buyers might expect from the 2026 Galaxy Z foldable lineup. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra could deliver a more uniform flagship experience with Snapdragon hardware worldwide, while the Galaxy Z Flip 8 may continue Samsung’s regional chipset strategy.
With the launch only weeks away, more details about display upgrades, camera improvements, battery capacity, pricing, and availability are expected to surface soon. For now, the biggest takeaway is simple: if this leak is accurate, Galaxy Z Fold 8 buyers in Europe can expect Snapdragon power, while Galaxy Z Flip 8 buyers may need to pay closer attention to which regional version they are getting.
