JBL Go 5 Hits Amazon Pre-Order Ahead of Official Release

JBL’s next ultra-portable Bluetooth speaker is about to get a much wider release. After debuting in China in March, the JBL Go 5 has now appeared on Amazon in the US, giving buyers a clear path to pre-order ahead of its expected late-April availability.

The Amazon listing points to an April 26 release date and shows the JBL Go 5 in seven color options: Black, Blue, Purple, Red, Teal, White, and Squad (a camouflage-style finish). Pricing on the main listing is set at $54.95, with the Squad color also showing up from a third-party seller for $49.95.

Built for travel, pool days, and everyday toss-in-a-bag use, the JBL Go 5 continues JBL’s familiar rugged design while adding a fresh visual twist. It now includes customizable ambient light bars on the top and bottom. These light bars aren’t just for looks—they act as quick visual indicators for things like battery status, pairing mode, and when the speaker is operating in Auracast mode.

Durability also gets a notable upgrade. JBL has increased the dust and water resistance rating from IP67 on the Go 4 to IP68 on the Go 5, making it even better suited for outdoor use and mess-prone environments.

On the connectivity side, the Go 5 steps forward with Bluetooth 6.0 and Auracast support, which allows compatible speakers to link up for broader audio coverage. JBL is also introducing a new feature called AirTouch, designed to make stereo pairing faster and more fun: you can pair two JBL Go 5 speakers for true stereo by bumping them against each other.

Audio support expands beyond basic Bluetooth playback, too. The speaker supports lossless audio through its USB-C port and includes codec support for AAC, LC3, and SBC, helping it work smoothly across a wide range of phones, tablets, and other devices. JBL also says the Go 5 will be compatible with the JBL EasySing Mic Mini, which is expected to launch in May.

Battery life is slightly improved compared to the previous model. The JBL Go 5 is rated for up to 10 hours with Playtime Boost mode enabled, or about 8 hours without it. To fine-tune the experience, it works with the JBL Portable app, where users can adjust a 7-band equalizer, customize the light bars, and install firmware updates.

For anyone shopping for a small Bluetooth speaker that’s tougher, smarter, and more feature-packed than the last generation—while staying compact—the JBL Go 5 is shaping up to be a strong upgrade, especially with its stereo “bump-to-pair” AirTouch feature, Auracast support, and improved waterproofing.
