iPhone 16 Pro vs. iPhone 15 Pro: Subtle Size Upgrade and Prominent Camera Bump Highlighted

Apple is gearing up for the grand debut of the iPhone 16 Pro on September 20, alongside its other variants, but an early hands-on comparison with its predecessor, the iPhone 15 Pro, has already surfaced. After scrutinizing both models closely, it appears that aside from a few minor cosmetic tweaks, the two phones are nearly indistinguishable. This is a clear signal to potential buyers: if you’re hoping for a significant design overhaul, the iPhone 16 Pro might not meet your expectations.

The iPhone 16 Pro does introduce a noticeable addition – a new Camera Control button. However, despite this tweak, the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro bear a striking resemblance, making it challenging to tell them apart from a casual glance.

In a short comparison video posted by Majin Bu on social media, both the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro were showcased side by side. This year, Apple has increased the display size of the smaller ‘Pro’ model from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches. Yet, this change is barely perceptible, possibly due to the rumored ‘Border Reduction Structure,’ which seemingly trims the bezels by 40 percent. This design strategy allows Apple to offer larger displays while maintaining a footprint almost identical to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

A noticeable change is the larger camera bump on the iPhone 16 Pro, along with the most apparent difference: the Camera Control button. This new feature occupies substantial space on the titanium frame.

In a prior report, it was highlighted that Apple’s focus this year wasn’t on redesigning the iPhone but rather on addressing three major concerns from users about the iPhone 15 models: overheating, battery life, and the absence of a physical camera button. Despite these enhancements, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max pre-orders have seen a downturn, dropping 12.7 percent compared to the previous year. Interestingly, the iPhone 16 Plus has seen a significant surge, with pre-orders up 48 percent compared to the iPhone 15 Plus.

As Apple continues to innovate, users remain keen observers of both technological advancements and design evolutions, always weighing the value of upgrading to the latest model.
