Apple is officially gearing up for a busy start to summer, confirming that its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026 will run from June 8 through June 12, 2026. As always, the spotlight will be on the opening day keynote, set for June 8, where Apple is expected to outline its next major software wave, including iOS 27 and macOS 27.
WWDC has become the company’s most important annual stage for revealing what’s coming to iPhone, Mac, and the rest of the Apple ecosystem. And this year, much of the attention is likely to land on a major Siri overhaul that could reshape how people use Apple devices day to day.
iOS 27 is widely expected to introduce a dedicated Siri chatbot experience designed to feel like a modern AI assistant built directly into Apple’s operating system rather than arriving as a separate download. The idea is that Siri won’t just answer simple questions—it should be able to search the web, generate content (including images), help with coding tasks, summarize and analyze information, and even work with uploaded files.
Another notable improvement being discussed is deeper awareness of what’s happening on your device. The updated Siri chatbot is said to be able to view open windows and on-screen content to better understand context, while also gaining the ability to adjust device settings and features more intelligently. Combined with a stronger search experience and the ability to use personal data to complete tasks, Siri could become far more proactive and useful than the assistant people know today.
Interestingly, Apple is reportedly planning to run this Siri chatbot using Google’s TPU and cloud infrastructure—while keeping the service under Apple’s ownership and control. Apple has emphasized that this approach is not meant to weaken its privacy stance, insisting that its long-standing privacy safeguards will remain in place.
Under the hood, the chatbot is expected to rely on a more advanced AI model linked to Google’s Gemini technology, with internal references pointing to “Apple Foundation Models version 11.” The claim is that it should be competitive with Gemini 3 and notably more capable than the model currently powering Siri’s recent improvements—suggesting Apple is targeting a meaningful leap in performance, not a minor upgrade.
For those hoping to attend WWDC in person, Apple says the seat lottery will open on March 30, and selected attendees are expected to be notified by April 2.
Apple is also continuing its Swift Student Challenge, a yearly program that invites student developers to showcase creativity and coding skills through app playground projects while building real-world experience.
