The smart ring market is heating up as Samsung makes strides with its upcoming Galaxy Ring. Longtime leader Oura is not backing down, aiming to outshine Samsung with the debut of its fourth-generation Oura Ring. Known for its comfortable wear and comprehensive health tracking features, Oura is stepping up its game to retain its position as a forerunner in this competitive arena.
Today, Oura announced the Oura Ring 4, designed to directly compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Ring by featuring a more elegant design and innovative Smart Sensing technology. For some time now, the company has been preparing to introduce their latest development, and with Samsung throwing their hat into the ring, the stakes have never been higher.
The Oura Ring 4 boasts notable hardware enhancements and design upgrades. This time, Oura has opted for a sleeker and more streamlined appearance, minimizing the internal sensor domes for a tidier aesthetic. Enhanced durability is achieved with a full titanium lining, ensuring a comfortable fit for extended wear. Addressing a wider audience, the new smart ring also comes in an expanded range of sizes from 4 to 15, maximizing comfort for various users. This iteration offers a single style, the Horizon, rather than the previous selection of Heritage options. Available in six different finishes—Silver, Stealth, Brushed Silver, Black, Gold, and Rose Gold—consumers have diverse styling choices.
Beyond design, the Oura Ring 4 is equipped with advanced Smart Sensing technology, promising superior health tracking. This iteration enhances data collection by utilizing up to 18 signal paths compared to the previous model’s eight, improving accuracy and detail. Smart Sensing is set to significantly enhance measurement accuracy, filling in data gaps and refining user insights.
Oura has revamped its app, categorizing health tracking functionalities into three main sections: Vitals, My Health, and Today. New features such as reproductive health monitoring, stress tracking, and heart health checks have been added, alongside an experimental Labs beta program. The enhanced Daytime Stress metric now automatically identifies about 40 different activities, enriching daily life insights.
Price-wise, the Silver and Stealth models are priced at $349, with the Brushed Silver and Black options at $399. For those interested in more luxurious choices, the Gold and Rose Gold models top the range at $499. The Oura Ring 4 is currently available for pre-order through the company’s website and at major retailers like Best Buy, Amazon, and Target, with shipments commencing on October 15. To benefit from the full suite of features, users will need to subscribe to the Oura membership.
With these updates and innovations, Oura is well-positioned to retain its prominence in the smart ring segment, all the while offering consumers cutting-edge health insights and elegant design.
