Intel Core Series 3 Wildcat Lake laptops could arrive as soon as next week, with early retail listings appearing in China and pointing to an imminent launch for a new wave of affordable AI-ready Windows laptops.
Several upcoming laptops powered by Intel’s Core Series 3 “Wildcat Lake” processors have appeared on JD.com, one of China’s major online retail platforms. The listings show models from Acer and ASUS in 14-inch and 16-inch configurations, suggesting that the first wave of devices is already being prepared for sale. More laptop makers are expected to introduce their own Wildcat Lake systems shortly after the initial rollout.
The listings currently allow customers to reserve or register interest, with appointment windows ending on May 18 or May 22, depending on the model. That timeline suggests that the first Intel Core Series 3 laptops could become available at retail as early as next week. One Acer model is shown with a 9999 RMB price tag, although that appears to be a placeholder rather than final pricing.
At the moment, the models spotted are based on the Intel Core 5 320, which appears to be aimed at mainstream buyers looking for a balance between performance, battery life, and affordability. There are no visible Core 7 or Core 3 versions in the current listings, but additional configurations may appear as the launch expands.
Intel’s Wildcat Lake platform is expected to play an important role in the company’s next generation of entry-level and mainstream laptops. While it sits below higher-end Panther Lake chips, it borrows several major architectural features from that family. Wildcat Lake uses Cougar Cove performance cores and Darkmont efficiency cores, along with Intel’s Xe3 integrated graphics architecture and the NPU5 neural processing unit.
The main difference is that Wildcat Lake is designed as a more cost-efficient platform. Intel appears to be trimming the specifications while keeping the technologies that matter most for everyday users, including AI acceleration, modern connectivity, and improved power efficiency.
Intel describes Core Series 3 as its first hybrid AI-ready Core Series processor. The platform is expected to support up to 40 platform TOPS of AI performance, which is an important figure for Windows AI PC features and Copilot+ PC requirements. This could help bring AI-enabled laptop experiences to more affordable price points, rather than limiting them to premium machines.
Connectivity is another key focus. Wildcat Lake laptops are expected to support up to two integrated Thunderbolt 4 ports, Intel Wi-Fi 7 R2, and Intel Bluetooth 6. These features should make the new laptops feel modern even in more budget-friendly configurations, especially for users who rely on fast wireless networking, external displays, and high-speed accessories.
Intel is also making strong claims about efficiency and performance improvements compared with previous-generation Core U-series processors. The company says Core Series 3 can deliver up to 2.1 times faster creation and productivity performance, up to 64 percent lower processor power, and up to 2.7 times better AI GPU performance versus the earlier Intel Core 7 150U.
In terms of core configuration, Wildcat Lake Core Series 3 chips are expected to offer up to six CPU cores, arranged as two performance cores and four efficiency cores. The integrated GPU is expected to include up to two Xe3 graphics cores, which is much smaller than Panther Lake’s graphics options but should still be suitable for general productivity, streaming, light creative workloads, and casual gaming.
The platform’s 40 TOPS AI capability is one of its most important selling points. As more apps begin using local AI processing for image editing, productivity tools, background effects, summarization, and assistant features, having a dedicated NPU could become increasingly valuable even in lower-cost laptops.
The Wildcat Lake lineup is said to include six different SKUs. Most models reportedly use a six-core layout, while one lower-end version is expected to feature five CPU cores and a single Xe3 graphics core. All Core Series 3 chips are expected to carry a 15W base power rating with a maximum turbo power of up to 35W, making them suitable for thin-and-light laptops.
Intel’s timing is notable, as these new laptops are expected to compete in a market where affordable AI-capable notebooks are becoming more important. Apple is also expected to target the value laptop segment with MacBook Neo, which is said to be based on a smartphone-derived chip. Intel’s approach is different: it is adapting its PC-focused architecture into a more efficient, cost-optimized design while retaining features found in newer premium platforms.
If the early Chinese listings are accurate, the first Intel Core Series 3 Wildcat Lake laptops could reach buyers within days. Broader availability in other regions, including the United States and Europe, is likely to follow later. Once final prices and full product specifications are confirmed, it should become clearer how competitive Wildcat Lake laptops will be in the mainstream AI PC market.
