Intel’s Lunar Lake Core Ultra 200V CPU Lineup Makes Waves with Up To 9 SKUs

Intel’s upcoming Lunar Lake Core Ultra 200V CPU lineup has made waves with a recent leak revealing a robust selection of up to nine SKUs, including the flagship Core Ultra 9 288V model, set to energize the thin and light computing space. This unveiling comes as a precursor to the official launch, showcasing these CPUs’ integration into various platforms such as laptops, Mini PCs, and gaming handhelds.

The leaked details suggest that the Core Ultra 200V series is designed to meet the demands of thin and light laptops, Mini PCs, and gaming handhelds, as observed at the Computex 2024 event where multiple devices were powered by this series. Prominent manufacturers such as MSI have already jumped aboard, teasing upcoming products featuring the technology.

These processors boast a tile-based, monolithic design, developed on the TSMC N3B and TSMC N6 process nodes. The chip architecture includes a setup of up to 4 Lion Cove P-Cores and 4 Skymont E-Cores, coupled with an AI-centric NPU4 engine capable of delivering up to 48 TOPs. Intel is also setting a new trend by stripping away the hyper-threading feature, leaving these chips with a straightforward 8 cores and 8 threads in the top-tier models.

Graphics-wise, the lineup impresses with up to 8 Xe2 cores, providing Arc-tier graphical capabilities along with a TDP rating that spans from 17 to 30W. Users can expect CPU speeds reaching up to 5.1 GHz and GPU speeds up to 2.05 GHz, with the GPU offering up to 67 TOPs of AI performance. Standout features include the on-package LPDDR5x memory with options for 16 GB or 32 GB.

Peering into the nine different SKUs, the Core Ultra 9 288V steals the show as the flagship processor, showcasing a full 30W TDP. It maintains 8 cores and 8 threads but ramps up the cache to 12 MB and the CPU clock speeds to a max of 5.1 GHz. Equipped with 32 GB of Dual-Rank memory and an Arc A140V iGPU, this configuration operates with 8 Xe2 cores at 2.05 GHz, rounding off the package with a robust 120 TOPs of total AI performance.

On the flip side of the spectrum, the lineup scales through four Core Ultra 7 200V models and four Core Ultra 5 200V “Lunar Lake” CPUs. These maintain a 17W to 30W TDP range, 8 cores, and variable clock speeds from 4.8 to 5.0 GHz for the Core Ultra 7 series and 4.5 to 4.7 GHz for the Core Ultra 5 series. While all Core Ultra 9 and Core Ultra 7 chips share the Arc 140V iGPU, varying GPU clock speeds and memory configurations distinguish the different models.

In the Core Ultra 5 “Lunar Lake” segment, TDP remains consistent with the other tiers, but the Last-Level Cache is downscaled to 8 MB. Nevertheless, the Arc 130V iGPU in these models still carries up to 7 Xe2 cores with uniform clock speeds of 1.85 GHz across all variations. The NPU performance delivers up to 40 TOPs and 53 XMX TOPs, ensuring these chips come very close to the 100 TOPs AI benchmark.

Intel has signaled that the Lunar Lake Core Ultra 200V CPUs are slated for a retail debut in September, arriving in time for the year-end holiday season. Post-launch, these CPUs will receive the Microsoft Copilot+ feature enhancement and will be pitted against the likes of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X and AMD’s Strix Point offerings.
