Intel Gears Up for Arc B380 Launch and Introduces Battlemage PCI ID to Linux Kernel

Intel is making waves with its latest move in the Battlemage GPU lineup. Their newest endeavor appears to be a budget-friendly graphics card set to succeed the Arc A380, hinting at an enticing option for entry-level consumers.

Recently, Intel has added the PCI ID 0xE209 linked to the “BMG G21” into both the Linux Kernel and Mesa 3D Graphics Library. This move is stirring excitement as it may signify the arrival of a new entry-level Arc B380 GPU, likely a consumer variant of the Arc B50 PRO.

Though details about the Arc B770 remain elusive, the discovery of this PCI ID suggests that Intel is not only focusing on faster GPUs for mainstream users but also enhancing their budget lineup. The Linux Kernel and Mesa patches, updated just recently, include this new ID, enabling the system to recognize the forthcoming GPU and support 3D rendering, alongside facilitating Vulkan and OpenGL applications.

Speculation suggests the Arc B380 could boast 16 Xe2 cores, nearly matching the performance of the higher-tier Arc B570, which may represent a significant leap from its predecessor, the Arc A380 with 8 Xe cores. If these specs hold true, the Arc B380 could become an exceptional entry-level GPU, provided Intel hits the sweet spot on pricing.

Keep an eye on this development as it unfolds, as Intel’s strategic enhancements are well-poised to make a substantial impact on the GPU market.
