Intel’s latest contribution to the CPU market, the Core Ultra 7 265KF, has made waves with its performance in the V-Ray benchmark, surpassing the Core i7-14700K by a small margin.
Recently, the Core Ultra 7 265KF has shown up in various benchmarks like Geekbench, CPU-Z, and AIDA64, but its recent V-Ray benchmark scores are particularly noteworthy. The benchmark, which we assume was conducted with unknown parameters, demonstrates that the Core Ultra 7 265KF is indeed faster than its predecessor. It remains uncertain whether this was a test with an engineering sample or a Qualification Sample (QS) part, but the performance uplift is clear.
The Core Ultra 7 265KF stands as the second most powerful CPU in Intel’s Core Ultra 200K Desktop lineup. This powerhouse features 20 cores and 20 threads, with a base clock speed of 3.9 GHz that can boost up to 5.50 GHz. Additionally, it’s equipped with 33 MB of L3 cache and has a TDP of 125W (PL1). Users can also manually set it to operate at 177W (Default PL2) and a high-performance mode of 250W (Performance PL2).
In terms of raw performance, the Core Ultra 7 265KF scored 33,270 points in the V-Ray benchmark, a test that emphasizes multi-threading. Throughout the benchmark, the CPU maintained an average speed of 5.00 GHz over a runtime of just 1 minute. For context, the Core i7-14700K achieves an average of 31,525 points, while AMD’s Ryzen 9 7900X scores around 30,386 points. The newest Ryzen 9 9900X, however, significantly outperforms its predecessors with a score of 40,034 points. Typically, Ryzen chips have shown strong performance in this benchmark.
The key takeaway is that the Core Ultra 7 265KF is approximately 6% faster than the Core i7-14700K. Meanwhile, the Core i9-14900K remains 6% faster than the new Arrow Lake chip. This comparison is notable considering the Core Ultra 7 265KF has fewer threads (20 cores and 20 threads) compared to the Core i9-14900K’s 24 cores and 32 threads.
As the Core Ultra 7 265KF gears up to join the launch lineup for Intel’s Core Ultra 200 “Arrow Lake” Desktop CPUs, which are expected to be unveiled next month, enthusiasts should keep an eye on further developments in the desktop CPU space.
