IKEA’s popular donut-shaped Varmblixt light is getting a smart upgrade sooner than expected, with the new Varmblixt LED table/wall lamp already appearing for sale in parts of Europe.
Officially announced at the start of 2026 and originally expected to arrive in April 2026, the smart version is now listed in IKEA’s online store in Sweden with a recommended price of SEK 699. Shoppers have also spotted it in select physical IKEA locations, including stores in Spain and France. Pricing varies by country, with the lamp showing up for €59.99 in Spain and €49.99 in France via IKEA’s app-based Shop & Go feature. It has also been reported in some Danish stores for DKK 399.
This smart Varmblixt LED table/wall lamp (30 cm) keeps the recognizable circular “donut” design while adding modern connected lighting features. It supports both white and colored lighting effects, and it’s dimmable—ideal for creating softer ambient light in a living room, bedroom, or home office, or for adding a more vibrant accent color to a wall display.
For smart home control, the lamp can connect to IKEA’s Dirigera Hub, allowing you to manage it remotely in the IKEA Home Smart app. Through the app, you can adjust brightness and color, set schedules so the light changes throughout the day, and automate on/off routines. IKEA also includes a remote control, making it easy to tweak brightness and color without opening the app.
Availability is still limited, and IKEA hasn’t confirmed exactly when the smart Varmblixt will roll out more broadly across Europe or expand to other regions like North America. For now, shoppers outside the early-launch markets may need to wait a little longer—even though the early listings suggest the wider release could be approaching faster than expected.
