Hyper’s HyperSpace TrackPad Pro looked like it could become the go-to alternative to Apple’s Magic Trackpad for Windows users. The sleek, aluminum trackpad attracted plenty of attention during its crowdfunding run, pulling in more than $200,000 in roughly 38 days. But despite the strong early momentum, the project has now hit a major roadblock: Hyper says the device is delayed indefinitely due to ongoing supply chain problems, and backers are being asked to choose between a refund or an open-ended wait.
The HyperSpace TrackPad Pro entered crowdfunding about six months ago with a clear mission—deliver a premium, large-format wireless trackpad built specifically for Windows setups. On paper, it checked a lot of boxes that Windows users often want but don’t always find in third-party trackpads.
A big part of the appeal is the design and feature list. The trackpad has a minimal, modern look with an aluminum enclosure and a roomy 6.5 x 4 x 0.5-inch footprint. Hyper also promoted a responsive experience thanks to a 250 Hz response rate, plus piezoelectric actuators designed to provide haptic feedback. It supports Microsoft Precision Touchpad standards, which is a key detail for buyers who care about smooth gestures and dependable input behavior on Windows. Wireless connectivity is handled through Bluetooth 5.2, and Hyper claimed up to 30 days of battery life from a 1,000 mAh battery. The company also highlighted the ability for users to create their own shortcuts, positioning it as a productivity-friendly accessory for desks, laptops, and multi-device workflows.
Now, however, those promised timelines are no longer on the table. Hyper’s latest update explains that manufacturing has been impacted by supply chain disruptions, leaving the company unable to provide a new launch date. Instead, it is offering backers three paths forward: request a full refund, wait indefinitely while the company tries to resolve the issue, or take a refund as Hyper store credit with an additional $50 bonus.
Early supporters had secured lower pricing during the campaign, with “super-early” and “early” backer tiers listed at $109 and $120. If production challenges continue, the final retail price could end up higher than those initial crowdfunding levels.
For backers and prospective buyers looking for a high-end Windows trackpad with Precision Touchpad support and premium materials, the HyperSpace TrackPad Pro still sounds promising in concept. But for now, the project is in limbo—making the refund decision an important one for anyone who funded it expecting a near-term delivery.
