Xiaomi’s next big software upgrade, HyperOS 3, has begun rolling out in China, but not every device will make the jump. While early beta builds are already available for select flagships and tablets, several popular models are expected to miss out and remain on older software going forward.
HyperOS 3 beta availability in China so far:
– Redmi K80 Extreme Edition
– Redmi K80 Pro
– Xiaomi 15
– Xiaomi 15 Pro
– Xiaomi 15 Ultra
– Xiaomi 15S Pro
– Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro
– Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro 12.5
More than a dozen additional devices are slated to join the beta later this month. However, a handful of smartphones are nearing the end of their update window. With even security patches set to stop, it’s highly unlikely these models will transition from HyperOS 2 to HyperOS 3 on global builds.
Devices likely to miss out on HyperOS 3 globally:
– Poco M5
– Redmi A1
– Redmi A1 Plus
– Xiaomi 11T
– Xiaomi 11T Pro
– Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE
What this means for users
– If your phone is listed above, expect it to remain on its current software version without further feature or security updates.
– If you own an eligible device, watch for beta enrollment and eventual stable rollouts. Availability and timing can vary by region and carrier.
– To check for updates, go to Settings > About phone > System update, and ensure you have a backup before joining any beta.
Xiaomi has not yet published a global eligibility list for HyperOS 3, so final details may shift as the stable rollout expands beyond China. For now, the clearest takeaway is that the newest Xiaomi 15 series and recent flagship-grade hardware are first in line, while certain 2021–2022 models, including the Xiaomi 11T family and entry-level Redmi A-series, are approaching end-of-support status.
If you’re considering an upgrade specifically for HyperOS 3 features and long-term support, look to newer devices already included in the beta program or those expected to join soon.
