Huawei is raising the bar in the premium foldable phone space with the new Pura X Max, a device that blends flagship-level cameras, a large battery, and next-generation connectivity into a high-end package.
One of the biggest highlights is the rear camera system. The Pura X Max features a 50 MP main camera with a variable aperture ranging from f/1.4 to f/4.0, designed to adapt to different lighting conditions for sharper photos and improved background blur control. It’s paired with a 12.5 MP ultra-wide camera at f/2.2 for landscapes and group shots, plus a 50 MP periscope telephoto camera at f/2.2 offering 3.5x optical zoom for clearer long-distance images without relying heavily on digital cropping.
For selfies and video calls, Huawei includes an 8 MP front-facing camera on both the main and secondary displays, making it easier to take quick shots or jump into calls regardless of how you’re using the phone.
Battery life also looks like a strong selling point. The Pura X Max packs a 5,300 mAh battery, with fast charging support up to 66W via USB-C. It also supports wireless charging up to 50W, aimed at users who want quicker top-ups without plugging in.
Under the hood, the phone runs on Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin 9030 Pro ARM chipset. Connectivity is future-ready as well, with Wi‑Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0 included to support faster wireless speeds, better stability, and improved efficiency with compatible routers and accessories.
Prices and availability are firmly positioned in the ultra-premium category. The Huawei Pura X Max launches first in China, starting at 10,999 CNY (about $1,610) for the 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage model. The top configuration costs 13,999 CNY (about $2,050) and upgrades you to 16 GB RAM with 1 TB of storage. Huawei hasn’t confirmed international release details yet, so availability outside China remains unclear for now.
