Huawei is expanding its premium smartphone lineup with the new Huawei Pura 90 Pro Max, a flagship that leans heavily into display quality, connectivity upgrades, and next-generation AI performance. While global launch details are still under wraps, the China debut already reveals a lot about what buyers can expect from this high-end device.
Up front, the Huawei Pura 90 Pro Max features a large 6.9-inch LTPO OLED display designed for smooth, power-efficient performance. It supports a 120 Hz refresh rate and delivers a sharp 2,880 x 1,308 resolution, making it well-suited for everything from fast scrolling and gaming to high-resolution video and photo viewing. Huawei also adds improved Kunlun Glass for protection, paired with an anti-reflective coating to reduce glare and improve visibility outdoors.
For selfies and video calls, there’s a 13 MP front-facing camera with an f/2.0 aperture, placed neatly inside a punch-hole cutout. This setup keeps the front design modern while still leaving plenty of screen real estate for immersive use.
Powering the phone is the HiSilicon Kirin 9030S chipset, which Huawei says brings improved AI performance compared to older generations. While the full performance breakdown hasn’t been detailed here, the focus on AI suggests enhancements in areas like computational photography, smarter system optimizations, and more responsive on-device intelligence.
Connectivity is another highlight. The Pura 90 Pro Max supports dual SIM functionality and steps into the latest wireless standards with Wi‑Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0. It also includes satellite emergency calling, a feature aimed at helping users stay connected when traditional networks aren’t available—though this satellite capability is currently limited to China.
Prices and availability in China are positioned firmly in flagship territory. The base model starts at 6,499 CNY (around $950) for 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. At the top end, the 16 GB RAM and 1 TB storage version costs 8,599 CNY (around $1,260). Huawei has not yet confirmed an international release date or global pricing, so anyone outside China will need to wait for official word on wider availability.
With its large LTPO OLED display, updated protective glass, modern wireless standards, dual SIM support, and a new Kirin chip tuned for stronger AI capabilities, the Huawei Pura 90 Pro Max is shaping up to be a serious premium smartphone option—especially for users who prioritize cutting-edge features and a big-screen experience.
