Huawei smartwatch owners in Europe are finally getting a much better way to pay with a tap. Contactless payments through Curve Pay are now available on several Huawei wearables, including the Huawei Watch GT 6, bringing a more familiar “wallet-style” experience to the brand’s NFC-enabled watches.
Until now, many Huawei smartwatches in Europe could only handle NFC payments through Quicko. While it worked in certain situations, it didn’t feel as seamless as the contactless systems many people are used to. Users often had to top up credit in advance rather than simply paying directly from a debit or credit card. On top of that, acceptance could be inconsistent across retail chains, making it less reliable for everyday shopping.
Curve Pay changes that by letting you add and manage multiple payment cards, then pay directly from your Huawei smartwatch using its built-in NFC chip. The idea is simple: store your cards once, then choose the one you want on your wrist and tap to pay. Curve also says the service works with any bank account and can even be used for cash withdrawals at ATMs, giving it more flexibility beyond in-store payments.
Curve Pay support is rolling out for these Huawei smartwatch models in Europe:
Huawei Watch GT Runner 2
Huawei Watch Ultimate 2
Huawei Watch GT 6
Huawei Watch GT 5
Huawei Watch 5
Huawei Watch Fit 4
Getting started is straightforward. You’ll need to download the Curve Pay app, complete setup, and link it to your Huawei smartwatch. After that, you can select stored payment methods directly on the watch using the integrated smart wallet, so you won’t have to pull out your phone just to switch cards before paying.
Curve Pay is free to use, with optional subscriptions available for people who want extras like higher limits for fee-free spending abroad or increased cashback. For most users, though, the big upgrade is the improved day-to-day contactless payment experience—making Huawei smartwatches like the Watch GT 6 far more practical as an “leave-your-phone-behind” companion for shopping and errands across Europe.
