Honor X7e debuts as a budget 4G smartphone with a huge battery and 120Hz display
Honor has introduced a new entry-level 4G smartphone for global markets, and its biggest highlight is hard to ignore: a massive battery built for long-lasting use. The new Honor X7e has quietly arrived in Malaysia, offering a large display, a high refresh rate, generous storage, and a dedicated AI button at an affordable price.
In Malaysia, the Honor X7e is priced at MYR 899, which is roughly $225. It is available in a single configuration with 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Buyers can choose between two color options: Midnight Black and Sunset Orange. The phone is aimed at users who want a practical daily device with strong battery life without moving into premium pricing.
The main attraction of the Honor X7e is its battery. The Malaysian version comes with a huge 7,500mAh battery, making it one of the more notable options in the budget smartphone segment for users who prioritize endurance. Honor says the device supports 45W wired charging, which should help reduce downtime despite the large battery capacity. In other global markets, however, the phone is expected to ship with a slightly smaller 7,000mAh battery.
The Honor X7e features a 6.6-inch LCD display with HD+ resolution. While the resolution is modest, the 120Hz refresh rate should make scrolling, animations, and general navigation feel smoother than typical entry-level phones. This could make the device appealing for users who spend a lot of time browsing, watching videos, chatting, or using social media apps.
Durability is another area Honor is highlighting. The phone comes with 5-star SGS premium drop protection, suggesting it has been designed to better withstand everyday bumps and accidental drops. For a budget device, this extra focus on toughness may be useful for students, workers, or anyone who wants a phone that can handle regular daily wear.
One interesting feature carried over from Honor’s more advanced lineup is the dedicated customizable one-tap AI key. This button can be used for quick access to AI-related tools or other selected functions, depending on how Honor configures it in the software. Its presence on an entry-level model gives the Honor X7e a more modern touch compared to many other budget 4G smartphones.
For photography, the Honor X7e includes a 50MP main rear camera paired with an additional auxiliary sensor. On the front, the phone has a 5MP camera for selfies and video calls. The camera setup is simple, but it should be suitable for basic everyday photography, document scanning, and casual social media use.
On the software side, the Honor X7e runs Magic OS 10.0 based on Android 16 out of the box. Honor has not yet confirmed the phone’s software update policy, so buyers who care about long-term Android upgrades and security patches may want to keep that in mind before purchasing.
The device measures 8.29mm thick and weighs around 207 grams. That makes it slightly heavier than many compact smartphones, but the weight is understandable given the large battery inside. One limitation is that the phone does not appear to support expandable storage, so users will need to rely on the built-in 256GB capacity.
Overall, the Honor X7e is designed for users who want an affordable smartphone with excellent battery life, a smooth 120Hz screen, and plenty of storage. With its large battery, durable build, AI shortcut key, and budget-friendly price, it could become an attractive option in the entry-level 4G smartphone market, especially for buyers who value endurance over high-end performance.
