Honor MagicPad 4 Arrives in China With 165Hz Display, Snapdragon Power and 10,100mAh Battery
Honor has opened pre-sales for the MagicPad 4 in China, introducing a new version of its premium tablet with a high-refresh-rate display, powerful Snapdragon hardware, a large battery, and productivity-focused software features.
The China-exclusive MagicPad 4 differs noticeably from the international model, especially in display technology, processor choice, design, and audio setup. While the global version aims for a thinner OLED-based design, the Chinese model focuses on a fast LCD panel, long battery life, and strong everyday performance at a competitive price.
The Honor MagicPad 4 sold in China features a 12.1-inch LCD display with a sharp 3,000 x 1,872 resolution. One of its biggest highlights is the 165Hz refresh rate, which should make scrolling, gaming, drawing, and multitasking feel especially smooth. The screen also reaches up to 700 nits of high-brightness mode, offers a 292 PPI pixel density, covers the DCI-P3 color gamut, and supports 1.07 billion colors.
Inside, the tablet is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor. This chip positions the MagicPad 4 as a capable Android tablet for entertainment, productivity, creative work, and gaming. Buyers in China can choose between two configurations: 8GB RAM with 256GB storage or 12GB RAM with 256GB storage.
Battery life is another major selling point. Honor has equipped the MagicPad 4 with a 10,100mAh battery, giving it enough capacity for long sessions of streaming, note-taking, browsing, gaming, or work. The tablet supports up to 66W wired charging, and Honor includes a 45W charger in the box.
The Chinese MagicPad 4 is slightly thicker and heavier than the international version. It measures 6.29mm thick and weighs 537g. By comparison, the global model is slimmer and lighter at 4.8mm and 450g. The audio setup is also different, with the Chinese model using six speakers, while the global version features eight speakers.
Honor has also made changes to the display and processor depending on region. The international MagicPad 4 comes with a larger 12.3-inch 3K OLED screen and a higher-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip. Based on benchmark comparisons, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 delivers stronger performance than the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, with a notable lead across multiple tests.
For cameras, the Chinese Honor MagicPad 4 includes a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. These should be suitable for document scanning, video calls, online classes, and basic photography needs.
To help manage heat during demanding tasks, Honor has added a new-generation 3D cooling system. The company says graphite cooling performance has improved by 11.7%, while the heat dissipation area now exceeds 37,000mm². This should help the tablet maintain stable performance during gaming, multitasking, or extended productivity use.
On the software side, the MagicPad 4 runs MagicOS 10 based on Android 16. Honor is positioning the tablet as more than just an entertainment device, with support for PC-style applications, multi-window multitasking, and a dedicated PC mode. These features make it better suited for users who want a tablet that can handle work, study, and creative tasks.
Wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0, giving the device modern networking support. Honor also includes cross-brand file transfer features, allowing users to move files between the tablet and other devices, including iPhones and iOS-based products.
The MagicPad 4 also supports a keyboard and stylus, making it more useful for typing, sketching, note-taking, and office-style workflows. However, these accessories are sold separately.
In China, the Honor MagicPad 4 is available in Starry Gray and Energetic Orange. Pricing starts at 3,299 yuan, which is approximately $492, for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage model. The higher-end 12GB RAM and 256GB storage version costs 3,699 yuan, or around $551.
For now, this 12.1-inch Honor MagicPad 4 model appears to be limited to the Chinese market. International buyers already have access to a different version of the MagicPad 4 with a larger OLED display, slimmer body, lighter design, stronger processor, and upgraded speaker system.
