Honor 600S 5G launches with huge 8,100mAh battery, Android 16, and rugged water resistance
Honor has added a new affordable model to its 600 series lineup, introducing the Honor 600S 5G as a budget-friendly option with a massive battery, 5G support, and a durable design. The series already includes the standard Honor 600 with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 and the higher-end Honor 600 Pro with the Snapdragon 8 Elite, but the new Honor 600S 5G targets users who want long battery life and practical features at a lower price.
The Honor 600S 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, an entry-level 5G chipset built on a 4nm process. This should help deliver improved efficiency for everyday tasks such as browsing, messaging, video streaming, social media, and light gaming. While it is not aimed at flagship performance, the chipset makes the phone a suitable choice for users who prioritize battery life and reliable daily use.
On the front, the device features a large 6.87-inch TFT LCD display with a 1,592 x 720 pixel resolution. Honor has also included a 120Hz refresh rate, which should make scrolling and animations feel smoother compared to standard 60Hz screens. The display offers 860 nits of typical brightness and can reach up to 1,020 nits peak brightness, making it usable in brighter outdoor conditions.
Camera hardware is simple but practical. The rear camera setup is led by a 50MP main sensor, paired with an additional auxiliary sensor. For selfies and video calls, the Honor 600S 5G includes a 5MP front-facing camera. The camera system is clearly designed for basic photography rather than advanced mobile imaging, but the 50MP main camera should be enough for casual shots in good lighting.
The biggest highlight of the Honor 600S 5G is its enormous 8,100mAh battery. This capacity is far larger than what is typically found in many smartphones, making the device appealing for users who want extended usage between charges. Whether for travel, long workdays, streaming, or gaming, the large battery gives the phone a major advantage in endurance. It supports 45W wired charging, although wireless charging is not included.
Honor has also given the phone strong durability credentials. The Honor 600S 5G comes with IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance. These ratings suggest the device is built to handle tougher conditions than many other phones in its price range, including protection against dust, water immersion, and high-pressure water exposure.
Despite the large battery, the phone measures 8.3mm thick and weighs around 216.5 grams. That makes it slightly heavier than many standard smartphones, but the weight is understandable given the large battery inside.
On the software side, the Honor 600S 5G ships with MagicOS 10 based on Android 16. Other features include dual speakers, NFC support, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a dedicated AI button, dual-band Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, and 5G connectivity.
The Honor 600S 5G is currently available in Hong Kong in purple, gold, and black color options. The model with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is priced at HKD 1,999, which is approximately $255.
With its huge 8,100mAh battery, 120Hz display, Android 16 software, rugged IP ratings, and affordable pricing, the Honor 600S 5G stands out as a strong option for buyers looking for a long-lasting 5G smartphone without spending flagship-level money.
