Honor Unveils First Global Software Update for Magic V3, Enhancing Camera and Security Functions

Honor is making strides with the release of its Magic V3, showing a significant improvement in its release strategy. Unlike its predecessor, the Magic V2, which took six months to hit global markets, the Magic V3 started shipping across Europe, the UK, and the Middle East just two months after its initial launch in China. Even more impressive is that Honor has already rolled out the first global software update for its latest foldable device.

The update, which arrived on our unit earlier today, keeps the Magic V3 on MagicOS 8.0.1 but advances the version from 8.0.1.153 to 8.0.1.155. While the numerical change seems minor, the update is over 1 GB in size and introduces several new features and enhancements.

This update includes the addition of AI Eraser and Face-to-face translation features, already offered by competitors like the Galaxy Z Fold6. Furthermore, Honor has refined its default camera and notes apps, although specific details on these improvements were not provided. To enhance security, users must now authenticate with biometrics or a password when switching between USB connection modes.

The Magic V3 has also been upgraded to the August 2024 security patch, compared to the July 2024 security level it initially shipped with. However, it remains at the May 1 Google Play System Update.

Whether these minor updates will significantly enhance user experience remains to be seen, but they do demonstrate Honor’s commitment to quickly and consistently improving their devices post-launch.
